restored image to new larger drive but now the boot partion is same size as old drive

Thread needs solution

well, I have TI 11 Home. I just did a restore of an image (XP) to a new hard drive. It went fine- or seemed to until I just went to Computer to see if it reads the size of the drive correctly but instead it seems to be reading the size of the original drive which was 40 G- though it reads 35. The new hard drive is 350 G. It must be that during the restore process I made a wrong decision. So, how do I now expand that boot partion to the full size of the drive?

Along the left margin of this webpage, click on "Grover's TrueImage Guides".
Go to paragraph numbered 3 and the pdf in item 3-ZZ amd 3-YY should be of help.

Basically, you will want to clear the new drive and start all over. The "Add Disk" option on the TI Recovery CD can be used to delete the botched restore.

One way is to adjust the partition size when setting up the restore. Do the resotre manually and yo get choices to adjust size, which partitions to restore etc.

well, I managed to download a free partition adjustment program which did it perfectly- at first, it wouldn't work, until I noticed that it said it could only extend/expand the boot drive to adjacent sectors- but the adjacent sector was an Acronis Secure Zone- so I deleted that and voila, the partition program extended the boot partition to the full size of the new drive

when I ran the Acronis restore program- there were a lot of steps, presumably one of them I did wrong- where I could have said to use the full new drive for the old boot drive
