Restoring datas on a totally new system

Thread needs solution

The motherboard on my PC crashed and it seems I have to rebuild a new system which will have:

New motherboard
New CPU
New RAM

I will probably keep my previous SATA hard disks.

I have a very recent image made under Acronis 2015 on one of them.

Could I use it to restore the OS and other softwares, in spite of the hardwares changes. What should be the procedure ?

Sorry for asking. I am sure it has already been explained. But I cannot afford making any wrong move.

Thanks in advance.

Eric

You can use the Universal Restore feature to restore your image on your new computer. You will need the Windows drivers for your new hardware in their native format (.sys and .inf) to be available during restore (typically you would copy them on a flash drive). You will need to do the restore using the Universal Restore medium available for download on the Acronis.com website, under your account. Make sure you can boot the new computer on that medium, and that it can see your backup drive.
If you have trouble finding the drivers on the manufacturers' web sites, you can consider installing windows on the new computer, and then copy the drivers from the System32/drivers and SysWOW64/Drivers folders. Note this is a less efficient way, because your brand new installation will be overwritten by your restore, so if you go that way, create a backup of your new installation using the recovery medium so that you don't waste your time totally, and can restore your new installation if the universal restore doesn't work as expected. For example. you might end up having some licensing issues if your Windows is OEM license. Some issues can be overcome by calling Microsoft support.
