Restoring just MBR
Hi. My system appears to have become unstable and I can't seem to mount the volume - I have tried booting in safe mood on Windows 7 (64 bit) but when the system loads classpnp.sys it just goes to a blue screen and I get a message saying unbootable volume.
So here's my question.
I know that I can restore just the MBR from a backup set rather than the entire volume - I last backed up three weeks ago so if I can I'd prefer not to lose three weeks worth of data. My back ups are contained on a external USB drive, but when I select restore MBR only, I am given two options to select as a TARGET... one is on my USB drive and the other is on my system that won't boot.
Any idea which one I need to select in order to over-write my current MBR? I don't want to select the wrong option by mistake, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Mike
