Rootkit problem crashed Vista - which is best Acronis product?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

My SONY VAIO laptop got hit with a Rootkit virus called Rootkit.win32TDSS.d and RootkitWin32.Tdss.ai and my system crashed. When I attempt to bootup, I only
get a blue error message screen. I'd like to try to retrieve my data before re-installing Vista.

Which product do you think is the best here - the Acronis True Image, or the True Image with Internet Security? I'm concerned about the internet security product running into conflict with the existing Internet Security programs running, which I dont know how to delete first if I cant bootup. Of course, ultimately I want to get rid of the virus that caused this problem, but I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to do this and get my data backed up.

Any and all suggestions and advice is appreciated!

Determined1,
Hello,
I can't answer all your questions, but can address one Acronis 2010 v-7046 works, and so has the two previous releases TI-11 , TI2009. Of the three i like 2010 the best .... yes it might have some "bugs" but it does the "job" I Keep at least 20 or so "full" backups and have done scores of recoveries. (too many to count) How well it works for you is a gamble, for most it will work with no or minor problems.. no big deal. It all depends on your "machine " and software you run. I personally would not have a "PC" without a tried and tested backup program (as you have found out) Again Acronis works and works well for me. Regards Fred
