Saving an image of a PC in a WORKGROUP on remote image server

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

First post on the site, and haven't attempted to search through the forum for an answer so I wanted to post what's on my mind.

In a nutshell, I'm backing up an image of a HP z220 with all my required software and basic settings that will be deployed to many PC's down the road, I want to keep the machine in a workgroup and backup the image before I add it to the domain and it gets all it's policies and updates.

Booting the finished product (z220) from the PXE boot, when I search for the image server (by IP) will it still pick it up even though it's not connected to the domain as of yet? I believe there is a feature within Acronis that gives it an IP from DHCP, but temporarily if needed?

I'm no expert at Acronis backup, so any help s grateful

Thanks

If the PC is not a member of the workgroup, I don't know if you're going to have access to the server.

Normal etiquette is to search a forum first, as your issue may already have been addressed. Plus, you'll learn a lot about the product from browsing this forum.

the PC's themselves are in a workgroup status. I'm going to try now and I'll post the results

Yes, it does work if anyone else has a similar question like this. Even though a PC is in a workgroup, it still can see everything that's on the domain (that has chosen "list in directory") otherwise just use \\PCYOUWANTTOBACKUPTOO then enter the credentials if asked.
