Scheduled backup doesn't run - computer sleeping

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I am running Windows 7 64 bit on a new Dell computer and the computer will enter a sleep mode if it is not used for a certain period of time.

I noticed that my scheduled backup did not run last night. I have it set for 2 am. It could have been some other issue but I am thinking it was because the computer was in sleep mode.

Is there something I need to do to set up a task to wake the computer so it can run the scheduled backup?

Thanks for any info.

Steve

Check to make sure the options inside Advanced settings is properly set. The link below illustrates the keep awake settings.

if all settings correct, then you could use the Windows scheduler and have it wake the computer one minute before backup time.

If the computer goes to sleep during a backup, we will need to make additional adjustments.

GroverH,
I have confirmed the settings you referenced in your image above, yet 2012 build #6154 does not wake my system to run a scheduled task.

Thanks

Recheck the link in post #1 to make sure this setting is checked.
"Wake computer from sleeping"

if properly set, another option would be to use the Windows Task Scheduler and schedule a meaningless task (such as open notepad) to start just prior to scheduled backup time.

This post states editing a task after creation breaks the wake from sleep feature. I edited the tasks, which may be why they aren't running. Probably a bug, but not serious as long as I can get it to work. Will confirm later today.

Why can't acronis wake the computer from sleep, back up the data, validate, and then place the computer back to sleep mode? Is it too much to ask?
