Seagate Black Armor Nas 400 backup software

Thread needs solution

I get following error whenever i open the BlackArmor Backup software "Blackarmor backup has detected unsuppoted hard disk drives. BlackArmor Backup does not support Windows Dynamic Disks, EZ-Drives etc."

Though the Black Armor is working fine and accessible through the LAN and i can copy and paste files into it.

The black Armor 400 is fitted with 1 brand new 3TB Seagate Baracuda drive

The Seagate version of Acronis True Image (BlackArmor) software does not support GPT or Windows Dynamic disks. If your Windows system is using either, you will get the error message when starting the program. I don't think the issue is the drive in the NAS, but the drive(s) in your system.

What Windows version are you running, and are any of your disks based on GPT layout or using any Windows Dynamic disks? (You can check with Windows Disk Manager)

I am using Windows 8. Not very sure what is the disk type. Its probably what it says in the error message. Is there a way out?

I doubt the BlackArmor software is Windows 8 compatible. The Seagate website pdf manual for BlackArmor states it only supports up to Vista.
The 2013 version of Acronis True Image supports Windows 8, but none of the earlier versions do.

You may want to check with Seagate to see what solutions they have available for use of your NAS with Windows 8.

Many new Windows 8 systems use GPT partitioned disks. More than likely that is the issue you are running into.
