Seriously? No ability to "Select All"or Select Multiple during File restore?!

Thread needs solution

I've been beating my head against a wall trying to figure out how to "Select All" files in a given folder during a restore. I keep thinking to myself, "Wow, they have dumbed down 2015, but they can't have been THAT foolish." Can you really not "Select All" or use the Shift or Ctrl key modifiers to select contiguous files or non-contiguous files during selective backup and restore? Please tell me this hasn't been removed.

Thanks for any help.

Hi, Enchantech, and thanks for attempting to help me. Unfortunately this link does not give information on what I'm attempting to do.

So you are saying that you are not able to select more than one individual file as outlined in the web help article for restore?

I'm able to select more than one individual file, but I cannot find any "Select All" feature, or select a range of files at the same time. Each file or folder in the right pane must be clicked individually. I was trying to selectively restore about 100 folders, and I had to click the little checkbox in front of each folder individually (with a laggy interface). Any file manager since Windows 95 (or even before, but I don't remember for sure) allows the use of the Shift key to select a range of files (click file at top of list, hold down Shift key, click on file at bottom of the list, and it will select everything in between. Or the Ctrl key to select multiple files that are non-contiguous. I keep thinking I must be missing something. Windows programs that manage files have used these Windows conventions from time immemorial. If this feature isn't included in 2015 (and it sure appears it isn't), it's truly shocking, and makes restoring or backing up multiple files at the file / folder an exercise in patience and frustration.

Understood, it has been said before, this 2015 version is looking like an off year for the application.

Hello Tridens92,

thank you for your feedback, I'll share it with our development.

However, could you please clarify what prevents you from selecting the whole folder if you want to select all files in it? Or I don't understand your scenario correctly?

Thank you in advance.

This glaring oversight appears to have perpetuated throughout the entire lifespan of the product.  It's still an issue with version 2021.

I have folder A off of the root of a drive. That's what's backed up. There are a thousand subfolders below folder A.  I cannot select folder A as a restore option.  I can only select the subfolders and individual files in root level of folder A.

Rather than clicking checkboxes 1 thousand times, a more pragmatic solution has been needed for years in the restore interface.  There's no use of Ctrl-A, no use of the SHIFT key for range selection, nor is their use of the CTRL key for specific folder selection.

Because the developers have ignored this and don't seem to understand their own product better than the customers on UI and functionality, I'm forced to seek out another product.  Unless I'm doing bare metal restores, which I do need, the product is severely lacking for individual restore jobs of high volume.
