Size of backup in 2013 Home

Thread needs solution

I have recently been using True Image 2011. When making a full backup of my partitions with about 493 GB, the result is a True Image tib file of 423 GB. Now I have installed True image 2013 and made a similar backup and the resulting file is 256 GB. The options don't seem to say anything about compression and the change is of concern to me. What has happened? Don

The backup size cannot be that different without a difference in what was backed up. The difference can stem from a different size of the data stored on the disk, some file system errors, or a different selection on what to backup in ATI. To the first one, one suspect could be shadow copies on the disk. To the second one, chkdsk X: /R (where X: is the partition(s) you backup up). To the last one, aside from exclusions, it boils down to the partitions you include in the backup.

You could visually inspect the contents of the image by double clicking on it and browsing it.
