SSD Not Aligned Before Backups
Hi,
I've been successfully using Acronis TI 2013 for backup/restoring partition images from my spindle HDD to migrate to an SSD using a sector-by-sector backup/restore. When I did this, it did not align the SSD. I took another backup from the SSD to an external drive and restored it, this time not using sector-by-sector and it still remains misaligned.
So, how can I align my new SSD? Even on backups where I don't select sector-by-sector, the boot DVD during the restore process still says "Partition Restore Sector-By-Sector" and it deletes the existing partition on the SSD drive.

The problem is my backup isn't sector-by-sector and I don't have an option for turning this off, yet it still says sector by sector partition recovery when booting from recovery DVD.
And how do I verify there is a 1MB allocation? It always deletes the entire partition.

Listed below is where the information can be obtained nregarding the current starting partition offset.
Start /All Programs /Accessories/ System Tools/ System Information/ Components / Storage/ Disks/
Locate the next line which should be showing without any screen movement.
Partition=Disk #0, Partition #0
Does Partition Starting Offset for Disk 0, Partition 0 equal
1, 048,576 bytes
If alignment needed, you can restore your disk as per my signature link #3 below and follow the example listed for item #1--Restore to larger/smaller disks. This will give you the opportunity to restore it correctly.

Thanks, Grover. Guide #1 helped.
For others to know what fixed my problem:
1. "Add Disk" under the bootable media and added a new partition and set 1MB as the partition offset (this only works with the paid version of Bootable Media)
2. Restored .tib file as normal.
I now see 53% better scores in SSD benchmarks.

Hi Jack,
Glad it worked out for you. Should you need to do it again, however, the add disk option is to clear the disk and leave unallocated--not create partitions.
The restore would be into the unallocated space and the 1mb offset would be set at the beginning of adding the first partitons.
The restore actually wiped out what you did but TI put it back correctly.
