Stand-alone boot not showing USB drive

Thread needs solution

ATI Home 2011 (6696) with Plus Pack.

Short version:
USB drives are not listed when running the standalone CD for the Plus Pack. When attempting to select the backup file for a recovery, the USB drive is not shown. Accessing network-attached PCs works fine. tached USB drives (which is where my backup files are). Is this a known problem?

Long version:
I wanted to check out the Universal Restore feature. So to ensure I had the most current of everything, earlier this evening I downloaded ATIH2011_6696_en-US.exe and ATIH2011PP_6696_en-US.exe. Also downloaded and burned the ISO for the Plus Pack (ATIH2011PP_en-US.iso).

On PC1, on a clean install of Win XP Pro SP3, I installed ATI Home 2011 followed by the Plus Pack upgrade. Then took a complete backup signifying I wanted to use the Universal Restore feature and placed the output file on a USB drive.

I then attached the USB drive containing PC1's backup to PC2 and booted up the standalone CD. When browsing to select the desired backup file, the local C: drive, the CD drive and network-attached PCs are shown, but no USB drive!

Am I missing something here or is ATI Home 2011 broken?

This is most likely a question of drivers that are not in your recovery CD.

Did you create the bootable CD from ATI, or do you use an installation CD that came with your purchase?

Try the following in order:
- create the recovery CD from the 6696 build. Try this recovery CD.
- download the bootable media ISO from your account and burn the ISO to a disk. Try this second recovery CD.
- download the safe media plug in, and create a safe media recovery CD. Try this one.
- create a WinPE environment. Not very easy but your best bet at getting the right drivers.
