Start = Queued?
I use Backup and Recovery, but I set a client up with TIH 2010. I created a scheduled task and told it to start (to get the first backup). The status changed to queued and showed no signs of running. Shouldn't start make it run now and enable or disable determine whether it runs on schedule. I just downloaded last night (as a program version reference) and installed over TIH 9. I assumed I had to install over the prior version since this was an upgrade.
Thanx,
Steven

It is best that v9 be un-installed before installing TIH2010.
I would try to un-install your current applet and also cleanout any temp files, etc.
Each download is a standalone install. You will need your prior serial but v9 does not need to be installed before installing 2010.
On your first post, there is an option to subscribe. Normally, this is pre-checked.
User does not have capability of deleting a post so your second post will remain.
Normally, when TIH task is queued, it means another TIH is running. This may be a mixup between the two versions.

Ok, I was not sure if I could uninstall. I had the prior serial number, but was never asked for it. I figured I was either authorized because I was logged in to Acronis as the client, I would be asked for the serial number, or it would validate because a prior version was installed. Since I was not asked for the prior serial number I installed over.
I have started a backup. Can I uninstall after the backup and when I reinstall create a new scheduled task that adds to the existing file? I got it to run by cloning the task and removing the schedule from the clone.
On a side note, with regards to this task thing. I think it is great, but in both the enterprise software and the home software, we seem to have lost the ability to simply do a task. I would like to see an option on unscheduled tasks to toggle between save and don't save the task. I don't seem to find that. I may want to backup a directory or a disk temporarily because of some work I am doing. I don't need 100 tasks in my unscheduled task list which I will never use again. Just a suggestion.
It would be nice, and a lot of other programs do this, if you could detect prior installations and uninstall them as part of the new version install.
On the forum thing, I didn't notice the checkbox, so I wasn't sure after posting. It would be nice if your subscription status to a thread was displayed somewhere on the page. It would also be nice if I could subscribe without commenting. If I can, I don't see how. One should also be able to unsubscribe. Just my opinion.
Thanx for your time.

I can't see that I have any other backup or Acronis running and all my backup ever says is queued. No backup happens. I have deleted all old backups from the list. I've downloaded the latest version. I've rebooted my computer. Nothing seems to work.
This program is really frustrating me. Why can't it look like a "normal" Windows program? Show the version you're on, tell you why it isn't doing something, use terms an average person understands.
Here's a thought - how about if it was so simple everyone actually wanted to buy it. Something like"
It starts with a button that says Backup.
Then it says what do you want to backup and you say My Documents or C drive or My Pictures, or my email, etc.
Then it asks where do you want to back it up to and you pick from the choices of external devices.
Then it asks when do you want to run the backup and the choices are Now or you have a choice of frequency.
If it could tell you if your external device doesn't have enough room BEFORE YOU START, that would be nice too.
If it could lastly tell you the backup was successful or not that's be icing on the cake.
Anyway, back to my problem with queued ....help!

Katherine,
Maybe check the log file for any help. Is it possible our security software/firewall is preventing the actual start?
Stephen,
" Can I uninstall after the backup and when I reinstall create a new scheduled task that adds to the existing file? I got it to run by cloning the task and removing the schedule from the clone.". Yes, you can still uninstall but and while it is possible to add to an existing, you are better off starting over. I don't know that it would help but you might try doing a repair option. Restaret the TI install program and choose install and then you will have a repair option provided.
If you decide to do the uninstall, I would trun the 2011 cleanup program. Link inside my signature below.

Hi - Thanks for taking the time to reply. I did get this solved happily by ending any processes that had something to do with my external hard drive. It has it's own backup program and even though I had it paused it seemed to still be competing. I hope that helps someone else.

Thank you very much Katherine for advising of your solutions. It always helps to know because if it happened to you, it will happen again to someone else.
