Startup recovery after pressing f11 does not work

Thread needs solution

Hi

Trueimage home version 10 (build 4942)

After pressing f11 at start up i get "starting Acronis True Image Home", then "Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000008" and a page full of stuff. Have to power off the computer to restart. Wandered round the knowledge base on the support site but can't find anything.

Backup and recovery seems to be working OK when booted up but obviously it would be good to have the f11 system working in case of future problems.

Using a bootable rescue disc it works if i select "Safe Version" but I get the same problem if I select "Full version"

Any ideas?

Have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread?

Also, download the ISO from your Acronis account and create a CD from it. It uses a different loader and may have updated drivers.

Thanks MudCrab I'll give that a go. Don't know Why I keep ending up in the Disk Drector Forum. I'm sure I posted in backup and recovery. Strange.

For TI, you want the True Image forum, not the Backup & Recovery forum (that's the corporate product).

Hi MudCrab
Well I tried the quiet acpi=off noapic bit. This worked partially if booting from the disc but the full TI version did not load properly, the screen froze and i had to power off. Read before you post then goes on and ask me to send them further information. However I can find no facility on the support site that allows me to communicate with them. Think I'll give up.

Acronis may provide some support for TI 10, but it's pretty old now so it just depends. For support, go to the support page and click the orange Start here button. Online Chat is usually the fastest method.

Did you try the ISO download version?

Does the Safe Mode version of TI see all your drives and otherwise work correctly? If your backups are on a USB drive, the Safe Mode version may not see the drive or the access speed may be very slow (USB 1 speeds).

You may be able to modify the ASRM to boot the Safe Mode version. I've done it before with TI 11 and it's probably the same for 10. Takes some tweaking, though. You can't do it automatically with TI.

Yes the safe mode version seams to see all my drives OK so I guess I will rely on that. My disc backup is in the secure zone on my third hard disc.

Online Chat does not seem to be available to me.
