Strange Behavior with True Image 2014

Several times I have noticed an issue when I boot a computer off of the recovery disc and backup files to a USB destination disc. The backup works just fine but the source disc contains a copy of the folder names from the external USB drive. It almost appears like the recovery disc is attempting some type of synchronization when you perform the file backup. I am going to dedicate some time to duplicate and document this problem, but before I waste my time does anyone know if this is a known problem or not? Or has anyone else noticed this type or a similar type of behavior?
