Strange folders created upon completion of backup task

Whenever I create an image under Acronis True Image 2015 on my Windows 8.1 machine, it not only writes the image to the selected destination, but upon completion of the backup task it also creates a strange new folder on the destination drive, which has a weird combination of numbers and characters as its name (see attached screenshot). The folder, however, has no content and has a size of 0 bytes. Has anyone an explanation for this event? Can I safely delete this folder without jeopardizing the created image?
