Support for 32 bit Windows XP Pro?

Thread needs solution

According to info I just found in the Aconis Knowledge Base TI 2009 supports the 64 bit version of Windows XP Pro but NOT the 32 bit version. This was news to me. I used the info that Microsoft provides on their site to determine that my Win XP Pro system is the 32 bit version. I recently (the first time it has been neccessary in 3 years) attempted to restore my system from a TI backup. It bombed; from three different image files! I just ended up having to re-installing all of my software, including the OS, one CD at a time. Most of my personal data files had been backed up independently so I retreived most of it. But I am not very happy with Acronis right now! Does anyone have an opinion?

Too bad you're posting after the fact. The forum may have been able to help with your issue. The 32bit version is supported by 2009 as well as prior versions and all the current versions of TrueImage Home.

Thanks for the comments GroverH. However, forgive me, but I don't understand. So should my version of TI 2009 have worked with my Windows XP Pro x32 bit system? If so I guess I have another issue to address as it did not work for me when I tried to redo my computer.

So should my version of TI 2009 have worked with my Windows XP Pro x32 bit system?

It may have needed a little tweaking but the answer is Yes, it should have worked.

No time right now, but later I have a couple questions.

Harvey,
If you are interested, we can pursue your issue a little further and see if some of us interested volunteers can be of assistance.

Some of my questions may not be pertinent but a description of the problems you encountered would be a good starter.

1. Can you explain in a little more detail, how it "bombed? Did your restore from within Windows or did your restore from the Cd? What type of restore did you use? Did you check the disk option as to what was to be restored or did you restore by checking a single partition? What type of errors did you get, etc.

2. If you Right click on the "MyComputer" icon and check properties, the information about my Windows system reads
Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 3, Version 2002
If that how your system is also described?
Is your system a Dell computer?

3. Before your issues, when you looked at your system via the Windows Disk Management Graphical view, how many partitions were shown. Another way of asking is did you have any vendor support partitions, etc other than your partition C?

This will get us started--if you are interested.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think I want to go that far. My question was answered when you said it should work on a XP Pro 32 bit system. I don't want to get into what I may have done wrong. It would serve no perpose for me as I need to look into finding a simpler means to protect from a similar happening. I am 73 years old and my first compter was a RadioShack Color Computer with 16K of memory back in the early 80's. My first disk drive was a 5-1/4" floppy that cost me $500.00. Those were the days! Anyway thanks again for the help. Take care.

Harvey,
The choice is yours. As I am considerably older than you, I was just trying to help. You absolutely right. The cost factors have really changed but we still end up spending the same amount because we want more features and more power. Find a program which will work for you but be sure and do your backups and learn how to do the restores. Good luck.
