Surface Pro 3 Use

Thread needs solution

I had to return my Surface Pro 3 to Microsoft to correct a hardware problem. They will send me a replacement machine.

What is the best way to recover the files that were on my old machine?

Before sending the machine off to Microsoft, I created both a full disk backup on an external hard drive. Then, I created a disk clone on another external hard drive. To do that, I used a USB hub that had a keyboard, mouse, external drive, and a flash drive with the Acronis rescue media connected to it. This was needed as the Surface Pro doesn't recognize the Microsoft Type Cover (with keyboard and trackpad) when booting from Acronis media.

Thanks for your help.

Hello berylbeth,

thank you for your posting!

Please find here a detailed guide on how to restore your system to the same disk.

Please note that if there will be any significant hardware changes you might need Acronis Universal Boot to restore your system to dissimilar hardware.

Thank you.
