Synchronize Drive to Drive

Thread needs solution

Am I missing where to sync from drive to drive in TI 2014? Or have they STILL not added this obvious feature??

I travel a lot (as do a lot of people I know) and I do a Clone before I leave on a trip. Once I make the clone, I SHOULD be able to update/sync the drive in my notebook and my external USB drive. This should be a 101 feature for someone like Acronis.

Taking backups and doing incremental backups throughout my trip is really not an option. It only takes a couple of minutes (literally) to swap out a HD in most notebooks these days. It would probably take hours to rebuild a drive from BUs. And even with my USB3 drive, it's still takes longer to re-clone every night than it prob. would to just sync.

So anyone have any thoughts? I just upgraded to TI 2014, but actually would return it and change products if they really aren't going to get their act together.

Thanks.

Why would you want to sync a whole drive vs run a scheduled backup so you can have differential or incremental backups added to it to keep it updated. This would also save drive space as you can compress it, sometimes by half. Once you have a handful of incremental or differential backups, you can then consolidate the backups into a single backup file again.

Depending on what backup method you perform, and how much data actually changes in a day, backing up using incremental (and differential to a point) only takes minutes.

The way you're doing things sounds like building a house with a standard hammer and jigsaw.

It doesn't seem like an obvious feature. I believe that your use of ATI is unusual, uncommon. You've come up with a somewhat convoluted scheme, when there are better, simpler methods available. I'm not saying that you don't have valid reasons for what you want, but it's not a typical user need so I doubt it's something Acronis is working on.

I am assuming here the OP would like to sync between disks without having to connect to the cloud. This would seem like an obvious facility to me but then I may have misinterpreted the OP intentions.

I am assuming that this is still not possible in 2014?

Do you know that it is not possible to sync between disks? ATI 2014 allows sync between folders on a PC, so I would think it would allow sync between folders on different local disks.
