TI 10 Asking for password when I never used one
This is a problem I ran into when I lost my primary drive and had to buy and install a new one. I did a complete fresh windows install, installed all current apps and then tried to access my former backups to load additional files and folders as needed. I had made several backups prior to this and I always got a request for a password even though they were never created with a password.
I feel that this is some type of Acronis safety feature but I am now denied access to all of my backups that are stored on a seperate hard drive. Can anyone help with this?
Dave

Hi David,
This problem has been addressed quite a few times in the past and the most likely explanation is that your backup is corrupted.
This is why I keep everything in double copy, including the rescue media.

Dave,
Are you using the same build of TI 10 that was used to create the backups?
Have you tried accessing the backups with the TI 2009 trial?

Sorry to state the obvious but you tried just hitting enter and nothing else for the password?

I saved a backup to a usb drive using True Image 10 Home. My hard drive gave up and I put a new one in and loaded Win xp pro sp2. After I loaded TI 10 and went to the backup it now asks for a password (which I never used when I did the backup). I tried just hitting enter, my user name, password to log on here,... with no success. Can anyone help me get my data off of my backup? I never had to use this program to retrieve any data but this is why I bought it and I'm getting nowhere with it.
1.Full backup of c drive
2.Manually
3.In Windows
4.Through Acronis(I can't read it in explorer either)
5."password needed"

Chris:
Just to be sure I'm understanding your problem, are you trying to mount a TI 10 image in order to copy files from it? If so, this is an NTFS permissions issue. You will need to mount the image as read/write and then "Take Ownership" of the files. See reply #2 in this post for instructions:

The post links to an article that has instructions for Windows 7. Here is a link to an article for Windows XP. The principle is the same:

I just had the same problem.
The Image I tried to open was created with another build of TI then the version I was trying to open the image with, It asked me for a password (I never set one)
When I downgaded my TI to the same version as the workstation the image was created with, it opened fine.
Maybe you have the same problem here.
Hope it helps
J.
