TI 2009: TrueImage not starting, Scheduler running wild

Thread needs solution

Today I noticed that the Acronis Scheduler process (schedul2.exe) is going crazy: I constantly uses 100% CPU time of one of my two CPUs. The problem first occured today, and reboot didn't help. When I try to run the main program, it get's stuck at the "initializing" step. Maybe I has something to do with the switch to summer time, which happend this night in Europe?
Is this a known problem and is there any cure...?

Thanks for any help,
Thorsten

I am using Windows XP SP4,
True Image 2009 Home, Ver. 12.0.0.9809

Thorsten, I am having the same problem right now. I tried to reinstall and used the "repair" option which also got stuck (went into "non responding mode"

I am using WinXP SP3 and True Image 2009 Home

Any suggestions from anyone here

Thanks

Hello,
Got the same problem this morning with TI 2009.
After 2 disks restorations at different earlier dates, i changed the to day date to March 26, 2010, and the problem disappears.
Date back to 28/03/2010, the problem (90% cpu for schedule2.exe) reappears.
Looking at similar problem in this forum, i found an "Acronis scheduler" to update the one installed on my machine, after installation, the problem disappears, and no problem at all....
So download Acronis Scheduler (link below), which is a special utility to update the scheduler service, extract it and run install.bat (prior, kill the schedule2.exe process in the windows task manager). The utility will automatically update the service.

Wow, thanks. That did the trick, here too.
Additional hint: To kill the scheduler process, I had to try to stop the Acronis Scheduler Service (which doesn't terminate), then kill the process. When I tried to kill the process without stopping the service, I reappeared.

Many thanks,
Thorsten

Second hint: You may need to adjust the directories mentioned in install.bat to your local system. On a germay system, the paths are different...

Hello Thorsten,
Thanks for your feed back...
For your first hint, my firewall "Kerio Personal firewall" stopped any new schedule2 start up after kill, so i did not needed to stop the service.
For your second hint, the path in the install.bat refer to "%CommonProgramFiles%", which is a "windows generic path" for "Fichiers communs" in French for example, and any other translated path in others languages.

You are right with "%CommonProgramFiles%", but there was also a path literal for the case that the variable wasn't set. But I think that it is set in normal cases. So normally it should work. But I changed the literal, though - just in case ...

Thanks, the link with the updated executables solved my problem, too. The script did not work so I copied the 2 files manually into the C:\Programme\Gemeinsame Dateien\Acronis\Schedule2 directory (german installation)

Now Acronis runs fine again :-)

Thank you very much, this bugfix is also necessary for the latest available version Acronis True Image 2009 b 9809. Before applying this fix my task would only run once after being defined.

I do not understand why this scheduler fix has not been included in the last version.

Well, here we are a full year later and the problem is still there. Thank goodness I found this page with a solution. I'd reinstalled, uninstlled and reinstalled and gotten nowhere. I was getting ready to restore an image from a few days earlier when I found your answer; good that I found it first because the restore would NOT have fixed it; but your fix did!! Thank you so much - a year later.
