TI 2010 Boot CD - no keyboard and mouse

Thread needs solution

Hello,

at first: I´m sorry for my english ;o)

My Probelm is about the acronis bootable CD.
My Vista PC is a DELL XPS 2010 with cordless Mous and keyboard.

If i try to boot from Disk, i come to the Menü: start with acronis or Windows.
But there I can do nothing. I have no Mous or keyboard to switch between.
All i can do is to press the Power Button for restart.
The same happens, when i tried it with Mouse and Keyboard per USB directly.

I also tried it to deactivate USB Legacy in Bios - also no results!
And the other way to Press F11, to change the parameters to take usbmouse=off,
is one thing that i cant do without keyboard in Acronis screen.

So what can i do to use acronis bootable disk?

greetings from Vienna -
Karin

Is there nobody who can give me some input for my problems?

How can i work with the rescue disk, and start the program with keyboard and mouse?

greetings
Karin

Does TI start and work if you create the CD with the option to auto-start TI in several seconds so you don't need to select it from the menu?

Please note that none of the Linux parameters (the F11 options) take affect until after TI is started from the menu so they won't help you with the menu selection problem.

Have you tried the downloadable ISO file from you Acronis account? It contains more updated drivers and a different menu.

Have you tried creating the TI CD with the F11 parameter(s) already included so you don't need to type them in?

Have you tried the quiet acpi=off noapic option detailed in Section II of the Read Before You Post thread?

While testing, it would be a good idea to use CD-RW media so you don't waste CD-R discs.

Dear MudCrab,

thanks a lot for your answer.
Im sorry, but i understand only the half from your questions.

Can you tell me, where i can find the downloadable iso from acronis?
I try do find it, but no chance. i didnt know hows the right one for me.

Yours:Have you tried creating the TI CD with the F11 parameter(s) already included so you don't need to type them in?
---- all i do is to start acronis programm after install, and create the rescue disk, without any extras or parameters. and i also activated the F11 function directly in acronis.

In "read before you post" i found this:
Please boot your computer from the Acronis True Image rescue disc and press F11 key when the selection screen advising you to select either "Full", "Safe" or "Boot into Windows" option appears. After you get the "Linux kernel command line" prompt, please modify it in the following way:
quiet acpi=off noapic
------
I can not press F11 after booting from the rescue disk!! After booting from disk - i can only take a look an my screen and thats all.

but in this several ways - i cant start the rescue programm - it stops and wayt of an input from me. I can do nothing without keyboard and mouse - only restart with powerbutton.

sorry & thanks -

greetings
Karin

I would first find out if the normal version of TI (the one created using TI) will work properly. Start TI and create a new CD. When you get to this page of the wizard, follow the instructions below:

Check the Acronis True Image Home... box and check the Start automatically after: box (you can change the number of seconds, if you want). Then finish with the wizard to create the CD. When the CD is booted, TI will start automatically after the specified number of seconds without you needing to select it from the menu. Once TI has loaded (if it does), see if the keyboard and mouse work normally.

---

If you've registered TI in your Acronis account, there should be an ISO available for download. It's on the Bootable Media tab. Click on it and then on the link to download the ISO. Use any ISO capable burning program (Nero, UltraISO, etc.) to burn the ISO image to a CD. The menu used in this version is different and may support your keyboard and mouse.

---

In order for you to try any Linux parameters, you would need to include them when you create the CD (there's a page in the wizard for this) or use the downloaded ISO CD (it includes them in the menu) because you can't use the keyboard on the Acronis menu. However, since TI isn't booting, there's no way to tell if you even need to use any Linux parameters.

hello,

I'm from Holland.
I have the same problem: no mouse and no keyboard using the rescue disk in ATI2010. I run Windows7 Pro.
I also downloaded the iso-file mentioned above and tried all 8 starting-up-procedures. No response. I even tried "quiet usbmouse=off". Also no response, so no mouse and no keyboard.
I also tried the sart-up seconds mentioned above. No working.
My computer is brandnew, just a week old. Everything works fine, except ATI2010.

What can I do to make it work?

Best regards,

Joyce

Hello everyone!

Thank you for opening the thread regarding the case, and great thanks MudCrab for his kind assistance!

Karin, thank you for letting us know that the issue got resolved!

Dear Joyce, thank you for reporting about the issue and specifying the details. For such cases we have created the new ISO image, right now I'm going to send it to you via PM. I would appreciate if you could kindly let us know whether it resolved the issue you are experiencing.

Should you have any further questions or face any difficulty - just post your comment here, adn we will surely help you.

Thank you!

hello Yana,

The first option of these new ISO-file does work.
Thank you very much for your kind help.

Please don't be irritated when I'm saying Acronis should make a change in the original program so that the registrated users/buyers should be ableduse the original option (makgin a rescue-disk) on the program.

Or am I too impatience because Acronis will do so??

Regards,

Joyce

hello,

When using the ISO file and booting from the recue-disk
Acronis TI2010 does start, but before that I see an error message on the screen.

I attached a screenshot to this message, showing the error-message.

Does anybody know why this error appears???

Regards,

Joyce

Hello Joyce!

Thank you for letting us know that the first option resolved the issue for you, I'm really glad to hear it!

There's nothing to be irritated about: your comment is very reasonable, and we really appreciate any your feedback. I completely share your concern, and be sure we are currently working on improving the situation and making product as reliable as possible.

Anyway I'm forwarding your comment to the Management team - every such feedback helps us greatly.

Back to your second question

I have checked the screenshot you have kindly attached and there is nothing to worry about, since all is starting to work normally after this message - it's just our Linux  kernel is trying to load the drivers for the missing module (it is ok that it's not present), and complaints that it cannot find the needed component. It is normal behavior for this bootable media since it is an updated one, so this message can be safely ignored.

Please, let me know should you have any further questions or concerns, or simply post a comment here - we will definitely help you!

Thank you!

Hello,

I have the same error and the same issue.
After creating an image and booting with the Recovery boot CD my keyboard and mouse are not responding.

And when that's not working.. I cannot restore my image. I also tried to add the quiet acpi=off noapic without any results.

A have read that there is an ISO image that would resolve this isue. Can anybody tell me where to download this?

Regards,
Christoff

I am new to version home 2010. What happened to "Safe Mode" in the create bootable rescue media? All I have is "Full", and "Full" won't work by Reboot and "F11" or by boot from CD.
Thanks for your time.

Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.

Christoff,

We have implemented the possibility to download the appropriate ISO file after logging in to your account (the serial number should be registered). Please log in to your account, go to the Registered products and downloads section -> Bootable media. Download the file.

You can find the information on how to download the appropriate ISOLINUX file in this article. Please see this article on how to burn an ISO file to a CD disk.

Bill,

Safe version is not included into the downloadable version of Acronis True Image Home 2010. This was done to decrease the size of the installation file. Free plugin is available under your account at the Products and downloads section.
I also suggest you to try the ISO file (please see the description provided above).

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.

I too have this problem with TI 2010. It seems crazy that this has been going on for so long, for so many users, without a fix that works for all being developed.

I can boot from CD on my old ThinkPad running Win 7 32-bit but not on my new Vaio running Win 7 64-bit.

I've tried all the suggestions above but, whatever I do, when I boot from CD, the keyboard and mouse are dead. I've burned CDs from the software (latest release) and from the downloaded ISO. No luck.

I have to fix this before my hard disk crashes - if/when that happens, I will need to be able to boot from CD to restore an image.

This is wasting a lot of my time, time I don't have. What's the solution?

Hello Dave,

Thank you for posting. I will certainly assist you with this issue.

We are currently working on resolving it because our bootable media has issues supporting Sony Vaio touchpads, however we are close to releasing a fix and as a workaround, would it be possible to use a USB keyboard/mouse? I am sorry for any inconvenience.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

Thank you Anton.

The only external keyboards and mice I have are wireless or PS/2.

I managed to borrow a wired USB mouse. When I booted from a CD made from the ISO image, I was able to use the wired USB mouse to operate TIH. Excellent.

I will try and borrow a USB keyboard, will also see what happens when I boot from a CD made by the application, and update this post.

To all those having problems with no mouse or keyboard when staring Acronis loader from a CD or flash drive in TI2010 Home, I stumbled on a possible solution. I had installed the latest build (7160) and the latest mouse drivers on my Windows 7 64-bit installation, however the rescue media I created would not recognize the mouse or keyboard on starting the loader. None of the rescue media created from previous builds and Windows 7 32-bit installations would work either. Then I hit on the idea of keeping the mouse moving while the computer was starting Acronis Loader from CD ROM or flash drive. This seemed to overcome the problem for me (so far). I have had no trouble using Acronis Loader from CD/flash drive on older versions of Windows 7 32-bit (unless they were installed on 32-bit computers). The problem seems confined to 64-bit systems. I noticed that the MS-Dos mouse driver in the rescue media seems not to support 64-bit systems, being possibly an older driver. This may be the cause of all the problems. Maybe Acronis could devise a patch/build update to fix this issue in TI2010 Home edition. I use a standard wired keyboard and mouse with USB support so don't know whether this would work in wireless systems.

I just upgraded to Acronis True Image Home 2012 and I have exactly the same problem or even worse. There is no mouse or keyboard. Since people had problems with this in 2010, you would think it would be solved by now. I use Vista Sp2 with an ordinary Logitech wired mouse. I have tried two different CDs. In the first one, the Windows line was highlighted; in the second CD the System Report was highlighted.

It is true that I have had the same problem with previous versions, including 2010, but I was able to use them because the highlight landed on the Acronis line and then the system would boot. So I could funciton even without the keyboard or mouse. But with 2012, the wrong lines are highlighted so I need the mouse or keyboard to hit the right line. What should I do?

Thanks for warning us of this, Eli. I, for one, won't be upgrading until the problem s fixed. And I'll continue to leave critical reviews on Amazon and elsewhere. You're quite right to complain about the length of time this is taking. Even if the fault does not lie directly with TI, surely Acronis should have got to the bottom of the problem by now and advised users of how to avoid it.

Hello.

I do have the same problem with my keyboard and mouse. I made new one bootable CD and (Just to try) DVD using your img file from my account.
The software are starting. But i can do nothing. The same problem as Karin Horacek.

My komputer:

ASUS ETOP 23,6" i5-650 MultiT 4GB/1TB/G310M/BD/W7HP64bit /windows 7, 64.

Keyboard Logitech K800

What can I do?

Hello again.

It is ok now. It was just to push keyboard keys while starting system using USB boot stick.
