TI 8 / Ti Home 2009: raw sector by sector copy

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I need to clone drives encrypted using "McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PC". I need to do this by booting from CD. IMHO this should be possible by using a raw sector by sector copy.

What I tried
I used "TI home 2009" and "TI Corporate Workstation 8" in manual mode for cloning and selected "Als Originalabbild" (like "as original image"), thinking this would perform a raw sector copy. Nevertheless, I was unable so successfully start windows from the cloned drive (McAfee encryption error thrown).

Workaround solution
The freeware "HD Clone" (http://www.miray.de/de/download/sat.hdclone.html) did the job and I was able to run windows after cloning without errors or problems. But I want TI do do this :-)

Now, I'm really really sure that True Image can do the job, perhaps I'm just lacking a certain understanding of the program and its switches. Any ideas?

Regards

Marty

Hello Martin,

Thank you for using Acronis True Image

Using Acronis True Image Home 2009 bootable disc you should create full drive backup. While selecting partitions to backup you should select “backup sector-by-sector” at the bottom of the window. Then restore the image to a new drive and see if the issue persists.

i need to do this also.. before EEPC tru image saw 2 partitions on my Hd which was correct. it backed up and restored ok. After EEPC acronis only sees one partion and does not know what size it is. BAckup starts but later says my destination disk is full (not true)..

any ideas??

nothing like answering your own questions eh!!.. anyway.. i was using the "backup my pc" function instead of the "clone disk" function. I tried "clone disk" and IT WORKS!!! it copied sector by sector my laptop to a USB disk of the exact same size. I then took that disk out of the USB case and put it in my laptop and it asked me for my EEPC password and then booted ok!!.. Acronis is the best!!!
