TI 8.0

Thread needs solution

I have a new computer which has Vista 64 bit home premium installed. My old computer with 98SE suddenly died due to the motherboard going out and used Acronis True Image 8.0. I have full system backups of that system on a USB hard drive and I would like to install one of those on my new computer in an extended partition so I could copy files from it to my new computer. I tried running the boot CD I created, but the program did not see any of my new computers drives.

When tried installing TI 8.0 on my new computer, all looked good until the restart and then it said that there were some errors and when I did the restart, my computer locked up. I was able to go to an old configuration and get things going again and found only a single dll file in the Acronis folder.

Is there some way I can get one of these images extracted onto the new computer? Also is there any way I can use my version of Acronis? I will be upgrading to Windows 7 as soon as I get a copy of it.

Thanks.

It's 'take the plunge time ' I'm afraid and upgrade. TI 8 won't work or install in W7.

Back to your immediate problem, I can only suggest you download the trial version of 2010, make a rescue CD, check to see if it can see all your new hardware and then try a restore.

How well it can understand TI8 images is another matter as the image format has changed a few times between v8 and now!

Your other option would be to make a Bart or VistaPE disk with TI8 installed on it, this should work.
