TI Home 11: Can't view archives, can't delete old Secure Zone

Thread needs solution

I am using True Image Home 11, build 8.101, updated only today from the previous build. I have XP Pro SP3, 3Mb of Ram and my hard drive is about 200G with well over 50% free space. My Secure Zone can hold two drive images plus 13G of free space.

I experienced some system corruption on December 15 due to problems with my DVD drive, and
eventually decided to restore my system from a Secure Zone image. The archive from the previous day (12/14) was supposedly corrupted and would not complete, so I had to go back to 12/13. During the restore, I was really confused about some secure zone/partition settings I was required to choose or adjust or something, and the Master Boot Record might have been affected.

Since then I have had two serious problems:

1. My daily automatic backup to the Secure Zone has not happened. It's supposed to start when I
shut down my PC for the day, and each day, it says it's starting, I click OK, and turn off my monitor - I only realized last night that the PC is shutting down almost immediately because the backup isn't able to complete. I have added it back as a new task, but I'm reluctant to engage it yet because the archive that will drop off is from 12/13, and 12/14 is supposedly not restorable - and I'm not sure I want to lose that 12/13 archive. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to copy it to my removable hard drive (and the last full backup on that was longer ago). Maybe I will increase my SZone size so all three will remain.

2. When I use Microsoft NT Backup to do a daily incremental backup of data files (which I carry around
on a thumb drive) my entire PC freezes, requiring a hard re-boot. I discovered through research that I
can disable the shadow copy before performing my little backup, which solves the problem if I remember to do it - there is no setting to make that the default. This only started after the restore, and it might have something to do with the master boot record?

When I browse Acronis (doesn't matter if I'm using it under Windows or via F11 during PC bootup) here is what I have found:

- I am unable to find the Secure Zone in the file manager under "Explore Backup Archives"
- There are "No Items to Display" under "Manage Backup Locations and Archives"
- I am unable to edit the Daily Secure Zone backup under "Manage Tasks". An error message
states "Cannot resolve the path to the source. You should edit this task" which is stupid since this is the message that comes up when I select "edit".

However, under "Restore" I am able to explore the two recent archives in my Secure Zone,
including the one from 12/14 that was supposedly corrupted and would not restore. I can
retrieve and restore files from these archives. I can also validate archives.

And here's the weird thing: I have discovered that there is a second, smaller Secure Zone that contains a complete image backup from 2007. I am only able to access the files using "restore" and I'm unable to delete either the archive or the Secure Zone and it's taking up space (about 30G or so). Under "Manage Secure Zone" this zone does not appear. However, it's possible that it appeared during my restore last week - in fact, its existence may have been part of the confusion when the program asked me to do something and/or make some kind of choice having to do with partitions. The Help was no help and I was not in Windows so I had no resources to access and had to guess at the right thing to choose.

Can this mess be fixed? If I delete and reinstall the program, how can I delete the weird old 30G Secure Zone? My system is still really unstable (weird re-boots with varying symptoms) which is probably not the fault of Acronis, so I suppose I could try doing a repair install of XP. Or format c:\ . Yikes.
