TI11-8105 on WinXPSP3 GER Cannot restore TIB Error W00040011 and others
This is the second time I am losing a lot of important data to this wicked program.
Although the customerservice@acronis.com are always friendly and ready to help you, they tend to make you waste a lot of time by suggesting solutions like 'testing RAM with memtest', copying files over and over again to other drives, etc, I came to the sad conclusion: Compute with confidence? Forget it!
So please be exteremly cautious when you make a backup of your notebook's HD onto your external USB-drive using the Acronis rescue disk.
Do NOT trust the verification result. The TIB may be faulty anyway.
I made a backup of my client's personal data on a notebook (the German Windows XP Home Edition 'My documents' folder aka 'Eigene Dateien') using the bootable rescue disk. The target disk for the TIB in the external USB drive is formatted in FAT32, so TI produced 2 files
backup1.tib (0 KB)
backup2.tib (4.127.924 KB)
Worked fine. I verified the backup, no errors.
Then I reinstalled the OS on the notebook and finally wanted to restore the backup.
No way.
I get various error messages, when I try to copy files from the backup, or when I try to mount the TIB.
For example 'W00040011' when I try to mount the TIB from within TI (see below for full error log)
For example when I doublecklick the TIB, it opens and I see the files and folders in all their glory. But when I want to drag-copy a file to a new location, i get this error message:
'Fehler bein Kopieren der Datei oder des Ordners: Für diesen Vorgang ist nicht genügend Speicher verfügbar' (Error opening: Not enough memory). Of course there is enough memory. I'm not an idiot. Windows tries to copy a file anyway, but no avail. No file is copied.
I then installed various versions (TrueImage2009_d_de-trial, my own TI11, the latest 2010 trial) onto the client's PC, and copied the TIBs to this HD, but I received similar messages, for instance "Das Ende der Datei wurde erreicht" - still I could see the files and folders, but not copy them.
customerservice@acronis.com may have a lot of explanations, why this problem exists,
... but will they offer me a solution to retrieve my client's data?
Is there some kind of bring-in-service, where the specialists with their developer's tools can retrieve these data? I'm ready to pay for this. I really need these data back.
Acronis has an office in Munich, I also live in Munich. So can I go to the Acronis office there and will they help me?
I am EXTREMELY frustrated with my TI 11 (Build 8105), and I publicly vow to never use or recommend any Acronis product anymore in the future (I must say however, the Secure Zone thing has always worked so far ...)
customerservice@acronis.com: any tricky up your sleeves?
Thank you very much
Philipp
EDIT: I found that I can copy some files out of the TIB without trouble, even a file with 1 GByte size. But none of the many and vital .jpg -files. Terrible.

Dear Dmitry, thanks for your reply.
Believe me, I tried the 'general strategy' up and down.
I just cannot bear with the fact, that these errors occur despite the TIP was correctly verified upon creation. It was to be restored with the same procedure and with exactly the same hardware, using the TI11-disk. A very, very simple task, by the way.
As I said, the archive is indeed mountable, and I can retrieve SOME data from it. But strangely enough, I can't retrieve any of the .jpgs that are so vital for the data's owner, ALTHOUGH I can see the folder and file names.
Now is there some kind of bring-in service, where Acronis people help me recover my data?
Or should I really to go to Munich's Balanstrasse with this TIB file on my hard drive? Maybe they can help me there ...
Best regards,
Ph.
