TIH-2011 How to restore or is another Acronis product the better?

Thread needs solution

Hello all,
I hate reading through pages of manuals and if you people think there are dummies out there, then hi - l'm one of them!
I've been leant a copy of True Image Home 2011 to try out at my leisure before l decide whether to buy it or not.
I think that it seems far better than Norton Ghost from what l glean from the internet, but basically all l want to do is to backup my C disk and to restore it if need be in the easiest way possible.
So l started this 2011 program up, selected main screen, and then selected the disk and partition backup option.
I then selected the C drive only with the F drive as the destination, started the backup, and it has now created a tib file in a folder on my F drive which contains all my C drives info.
So far so good, but what's confusing me is what happens if my C drive crashes right now. I can't select my F drive to boot up from as there is nothing bootable on there?
Should l have therefore gone into the main screen and first selected create bootable media to create a cd/dvd from which to boot from?
Any answers appreciated on the above first, but then l noticed that there is just an Acronis Recovery and Backup Product available, so which one do you recommend then, and if you don't mind me asking, why?
It's ok for all you regular users out there, but us oldies just take a little time for all the info to sink in.
Regards
Bill

William,

You need to make a recovery CD, this can be made from the tools menu.
Hopefully the person who leant it to you has already made one and you can borrow theirs.

As the recovery environment uses Linux, drive letters do not appear in the same order as they do in Windows, so iot is a good idea to make sure your partitions all have labels rather than just C:\ F:\ etc as labels don't change between OS's just the drive letters.

Thanks for the quick reply Colin but.....
Acronis 2011 - Three options , Backup my critical data, Use backup assistant, or Go to main screen.
I go to main screen, but there is nothing about a recovery disk.
I then select tools and utilities and still nothing about a recovery disk?
However, there is an entry that says create bootable media - is this what you mean?
Really appreciate your reply, but don't want to get too much from my friend as we could then start saying it's getting into piracy, if you see what l mean.
So, a recovery disk then. Well l cannot see those words whatsoever in TIH 2011 - any ideas?
What l can't understand is the concept of it all.
I have backed up my C disk to my F disk and my C disk fails. I go into the bios and boot from what?
Dammit, sorry to be a complete numpty, but l just don't get it!
Kind Regards

William,

Create 'bootable media', is the recovery disk.

Boot from the recovery disk you made from the action above.

Here is a direct link to the relevant help item from online help. It does say it is for TIH 2012, but making the CD is exactly the same as 2011.

Sorry Colin, how blimmin rude of me is that then!
I always reply with a thanks or even a "l don't know what you are on about"answer, but got side-stepped by other things so forgot. Sorry.
Thanks very much for your reply, which has answered my question to a 'T'.
Have now got the hang of things and will try it out over the weekend.
Many thanks
