TIH 2011 won't shutdown PC after backup
- Accedi per poter commentare
Thank you, Colin B,
Now I see I was not wise enough when I installed the latest build. But, from the other hand, it`s a good idea to inform customers about such recalls.
I had a lot of problems with upgrading to this build but I succesfully overcame them. I try to use the script and will wait for another build.
By the way, do You have any info about it?

Disabling verification worked for me... :)

Sergey,
Make a text file with the following text:
net stop AcrSch2Svc
Save as acronis_schd_stop.cmd making sure you leave the file tpye as text.
If you still have 6574 installed.
1. Right click on your task and select 'Recreate Settings'
2. Click on File Backup Options at the bottom of the form.
3. Click the Advanced tab on the new form.
4. Tick Use custom commands.
5. Click the Edit button under the title Post-Command
6. Click the ... button to the right of the Edit Command form, and naviagate to where you saved the cmd script.
7. Leave, for the moment the two tick boxes as they are (probably ticked).
8. Click test command.
9. Open services.msc, check to see if Acronis Scheduler2 service has stopped, restart it if it has.
10. OK out of all the forms.

I cannot get passed step #1 as when I right click on that task this is not even an option (and not listed under "More" either as I checked). I see this was in response to someone else.

I've installed 6574.

@ Colin B
As I wrote several posts higher,
I`m running full version of TIH 2011 Plus Pack build 6574
By the way, the advice you gave me doesn`t work :(
Maybe there is any other solution? Honestly, I`m afraid to downgrade the build as I spent more than hour to install this one (due to some problems with this particular build, as I recognize now).
And my time is my money, of course.
Thank you nevertheless for your readiness to help!

Sergey when you say the script doesn't work, what happens?
- Accedi per poter commentare
Colin, the script works fine, I tested the command and restarted scheduler service.
But computer still doesn`t shut down after backup although post command run successfully.
Note that other programs installed on my computer, such as video converters, shut down the machine properly after their jobs end.
Maybe the problem is not in scheduler service?

Sergey,
I misunderstood your problem. I thought it referred to the others where Scheduler2 stops the PC actually closing down when you activate shutdown. These people get a message at the close down screen. Your problem is different. I assume you've ticked the 'shutdown after task is completed' check box.
If TI still isn't shutting the system down then, change your CMD script to the following
shutdown.exe /s/t 300 /t "script shutdown /A " /d p:4:1 the 300 is 300 seconds, so you can change that, you can also change or delete the message which at the moment is "script shutdown" the 'A' allows you to cancel the script.

Colin,
Yes , you`re right. I`ve tucked the 'shutdown after task is completed' check box. And computer doesn`t shut down after backup.
TIH log have a string "shutdown/canceled". I`ll try you advice this night. Thank you!

I have 2011 v6574 and run 3 full backups every week.
I do not verify after backup.
I have it send an Email after backup completes.
I have the shutdown box ticked and yes it does shutdown just like it is suppoed to.
Maybe some other program that is running is preventing it from shutting down.

The latest build of Perfect Disk Pro seems to be one item that interferes with hibernation and shutdown in W7.

I've been running Perfect Disk Pro for some time. And the latest version up to date. Can't say it's not this app but the latest update hasn't changed anything that I can tell.

Colin,
Unfortunately, your second advice seems to be doesn`t work too.
So I decided to move back to previous build. It took about 1 hour cause of badly configured uninstaller of poor and (as I think) untested build, but now I`m absolutely happy with previous build, and everything works properly.
Thank you for support nevertheless!

Same here.
I bought Acronis twice.
Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I get that frustrating "operations in progress" after I back up.
Two questions:
Any guess as to when Acronis will make thje program work and:
The backups are listed as complete.
Are they?
Thanks
Steve[

No improvement with the most recent update either. Still the issue with "operations in progress" and it's not cleaning up correctly either. Even through I have this feature set it's totally ignored and I have all backups still.

When I pull up Windows Sys Config (Win 7) to see what is in Startup I see "Acronis True Image" listed twice. When I look at the Command paths I see that they are different. I've always assumed this to be normal but thought I would check.

If one is Acronis Scheduler Helper and the other is Acronis True Image (the last one being TrueImage Monitor) then that is correct.
- Accedi per poter commentare
I see one for Acronis Scheduler Helper and two Acronis for True Image Monitor. One at 1180k and the other at 5668k (for ATI Monitor).

Is the last one perhaps your ATI video card?

ATI = Acronis True Image. No, no ATI card and have never actually owned one. The 1180k and the 5668k are both Acronis True Image Monitor files. Clearly states it in the far right pane in the Win 7 Task Manager.

Also, on the side of cleanup. Here's how I'm currently setup:
- Create a full version after every "5" incremental versions
- Old version cleanup rules:
- Delete version chains older than "7" days
Here's what I've seen that doesn't make sense. Now, I'm not using the PC everyday and some times I'm gone for three or four days in a week.
Initial backup:1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6
Second backup set: 1(1), 2(1), 3(1), 4(1), 5(1) and 6(1)
Third: 1(2), 2(2), 3(2), 4(2), 5(2) and 6(2)
Fourth: 1(3), 2(3), 3(3), 4(3), 5(3) and 6(3)
Now, by about mid point of the third chain I manually deleted the initial backup series (don't need it as I have a clean initial backup that goes back much further and want to keep space down on the HDD).
By the time Acronis hit about mid or late on the fourth chain it deleted all of (1) and (2). The thing that's not making sense for me is that many of these were past the "7" days. So why did it wait so long to cleanup. Or, am I right that Acronis is not doing this correctly. Sorry I don't have the dates on the files and I don't see them in the recycle bin as they are too large (or at least the first of each chain/set is).

Yes, size usage is coming from Task Manager. See file attachments.

Still having the same issue with build 6868 and even an .exe file they provided. Anyone get this problem resolved.
I do find it odd that every time that I check the option "Prevent the computer from sleeping during the task execution" that it's not working. I go back to check the setting and find it's disabled even though I enabled it. I select it again and the same thing happens.

Acronis shut down PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! REALLY!
After almost 2 months pulling my hair out like the rest of you I FIGURED IT OUT! I'll give you guys a 95% this is your problem! So here goes, sorry for the long story, but I want to explain that I went down every other path and those are NOT the problem! Do not reload the program, don't mess with share settings or Acronis settings and don't buy anything else AND ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SIT ON THE PHONE WITH SUPPORT FOR HOURS.
So, I have a work computer that absolutely has to be backed up and I can't bog it down during the day while I'm using it, so it basically has to back up when I shut it down at night like the rest of you. It was working perfectly, then one day I came in and the computer didn't shut down, I looked at the screen only to see the DREADED "Operations are in progress please wait." like the rest of you and had to hold power button to do a hard shut down. So I began to trouble shoot, did I change my power settings? Was the computer going to sleep some how during the back up? Did I change the back up settings? Was the hard drive I'm backing up to failing? Did Acronis have a Bug? Trouble shot all those issues, NOTHING... SO I began to look online for solutions and found a lot of you having the same problem. I eventually called Acronis like the rest of you and, no offense but your (Acronis) customer service has HUGE issues and is basically terrible. lol Sorry but it's true. Anyway, I had Acronis 2009, so of course my version wasn't supported anymore.... So I had to upgrade, which I was very hesitant to do, but I did so hoping it would solve the problem and if not at the very least someone could trouble shoot my issue. I upgraded and surprise it didn't fix the problem, so I called and spent at least two days on the phone with the guys at Acronis. NOTHING... They eventually became convinced it was some sharing settings in one of the folders I was trying to back up, (since there was no know issue like the one I was having.... RIGHT, there was no KNOWN SOLUTION, I'll buy that) but they couldn't figure out how to fix the "issue". I got fed up with support and tried myself for a few days changing sharing settings on the folder that seemed to be the problem in every way I could. Still nothing. SO I called back and got a random assistant who of course I had to re-explain the entire issue to and at some point in our conversation he said, "I bet you have a bad sector on your hard drive, causing an error with the back up." He suggested I do a "Check Disk" operation, but of course he didn't know how to do that and when we eventually figured it out though the Command Prompt it said I didn't have sufficient permissions... So he gave up and started looking at the "sharing" settings again, and eventually I said forget it because we had been on the phone for 3 hours... Next, I went into Tiger Direct over here and asked them about "Bad Sectors" on a hard drive and they said if I had bad sectors I would not be able to open/close or safe any of the files in question, so that couldn't be it. However, since I had gone down every other path imaginable I Googled "Check Disk Windows 7" and watched a vid. on how to CORRECTLY perform the operation. It took the computer about 30 min. YOU NEED TO DO FIND AND REPAIR BAD SECTORS. I watched in disbelieve as the computer found some orphaned files (no sure what those are) fixed them and then found and fixed a few bad sectors! I freaked out and thought this couldn't possibly be the problem. But guess what, after the Check Disk was complete I shut down the computer with Acornis set to back up on shut down AND NO PROBLEM WHAT SO EVER!!! It worked perfectly! I really hope this works for the rest of you as I know how frustrating this problem is. I recommend Googling "Check Disk" followed by your operating system. Running a Check Disk is relatively simple, but again MAKE SURE YOU CHECK FIND AND REPAIR bad sectors. Good luck, if I helped anyone out please let me know as I am pretty excited to find a solution for myself and everyone else... INCLUDING Acronis... lol

Glad to hear this worked for you. I'll have to keep it in mind. However, I have found that sometimes this issue occurs for other reasons for which I'm not clear yet. It recently started to happen again under Win7. I have found I have to delete the backup profile and recreate and then everything is fine. Apparently it some how becomes corrupt?? I have had this happen on two different types/models of machines backing up to two different locations. But I think it's worth running check disk to find out anyway. Who knows maybe there is a relationship but I think it's unlikely in my case. I have found that if I cannot defrag with Prefectdisk as it can be do to errors that need to be fixed on a drive.

Try what I did as it's pretty simple just to cross it off the list if nothing else. Here's what's weird, if you have bad sectors those files should be unopenable, unchangeable ect. and that wasn't the case here. Something with the bad sectors or maybe the orphaned files keeps Acronis from backing up and they may be corrupting your back up as well ( I wouldn't put it past that) when Acronis can't figure out what to do with a "bad" file it may just freak out. Please post back I would love to hear if my solution works. FYI the hard drive I was backing up FROM is an SSD so I can't really attest to the relationship between the defrag and bad sectors. Good luck! Again please post back.
