TIH 2012 - Recovery Fails
I have set-up TIH to backup my C drive weekly. In the recent past I have been able restore without any problems. Yesterday, a program I was using kept crashing. The support documentation suggested removing a codec which I did. When I turned-on the computer this morning there were a number of basic Windows services not running - no Control Panel, Explorer or Network Connections. When I rebooted it immediately ran Checkdisk and seemed to remove a lot of corrupted sectors after that it wouldn't reboot at all. I first tried to repair Windows but to no avail so I tried to recover my last backup. The process got to stage 3 when the message 'Recovery Failed' appeared. That happened with different backups even though they all validated. Now I can't repair Windows as there's nothing on the drive nor can I reinstall it as I only have a Windows Upgrade disk. What do I need to do, step by step, to restore my system?

James-thanks for your help
I have tried creating a new drive. That appears to work. Since writing the post, I have bought a Windows 8 installation disk but that won't run. I get an error message 'We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information see the Setup log files'. I have tried to reset the PC (using one of the recovery options on the Windows installation disk) but that fails because 'a required drive partition is missing'. I thought I'd created one in Acronis!
When I try to restore, I can choose the backup, Recovery Method and What to Recover. Next is to choose Settings of Partition 1-1. When I click on New Location I can select drive C. The next choice is Setting of Partition C but now I can't select drive C.
Is there a way (and how do I do it) to re-create the primary partition C so that it is recognisable to Windows so I can install Windows 8?

Are you trying to install to the same OS disk that had the problems you described in your first post? If so, I would run chkdsk /r to let it find damaged sectors. I would also run a drive diagnostic utility from the drive manufacturer, as sometimes those find errors missed by chkdsk. As it's your OS disk, I'd want to be absolutely certain that it's perfect before investing time in installing/restoring.

If your data is still not recovered try any third party utility which can restore your data back on your system. Most of company providing a free trial version, with the help of this trial version you are eligible to see the preview of recover data.
Thanks
