More times than not, TIH2011 fails to backup our 2007 Outlook with the error message shown in the attached screen photo.

Anyone else experiencing Outlook 2007 Backup failures ?

System : XP/Pro SP3 Up to Date. Antivirus: MalwareBytes and MS Security Essentials.

Hello Everyone....
Surely, I am not the only one experiencing failure to backup E-Mail ??
Clicking the "Backup Now" starts the backup and then it fails and TIH 2011 has to close....

I tried again (just after the boot) to back up Outlook and received the same failure message.
I am trying to backup outlook 2007.... Guess I could create a .pst file but then TIH2011 is suppose to back up e-mail...

Steve

Every time I try to back up Email I get an error signal. I am running Win 7 Professional, MS Office 2007, and TIH 2011 (including latest update available). The message I get is this

Failed to back up file or folder 'Microsoft Office Outlook:Profiles/Microsoft/9B4EC93B39CD8C4499FD342B1BBD4D2E

I checked the knowledge base and the comment there was that this error occurs only when Outlook is running but for me it is all the time. The knowledge base also said that with this error no Personal Folders in Outlook are being backed up. This is frustrating having purchased a back up program and not being able to back up most of my Email. I am backing up all my PST files in the data back up part of TIH 2011 and hopefully that will mean that I would get my messages in Personal Folders back in the event of a crash, but still one ought to be able to back up Outlook per se. Pulling PST files from a data file would require resetting up an email account, reestablishing all my settings and importing the PST files
My final frustration is that I can not get phone, email or live chat support from Acronis with out paying them money
What can be done to get around this problem or when will it be fixed?
Thank you

Hi,

I too am receiving an error only when backing up Outlook 2007 even when the application is not running. I am running this on Windows 7 Pro 64 bit using ATI 2011 with Plus build 6696. I receive the error within the screen dump attached.

My brother-in-law has the same build ATI, same 64 bit operating system and Outlook 2007 exact same version and he has no issues.

Any Ideas when there will be a fix for this issue Acronis??

Hello...
After upgrading to ver 6696, I no longer have any trouble backing up outlook 2007 to either WinXP or Win7/64. I'd delete the current outlook backup and start over clean. I have tested a restore to a backup disk with the current version and it restored all accounts, passwords and all e-mails. I did test a restore to a different machine (different login) and all messages were restores, however, the send did not work because of an account error.

I look forward to hearing your solution and tests, once you have a resolution to the problem.

Hi,

I had already started over clean by allowing the outlook back message to appear click ignore then it looks like it has backed up about 750KB of info, I can then delete the back up to start clean but same issue each time (otherwise failed backup cannot be removed). My brother-in-law restored the whole image of the Windows drive which of course also includes Outlook with no issue. When a seperate backup is made purely for the email it always fails with the message previously posted. He has a main drive, second drive and email backup set up exactly the same - only difference is his works.

Maybe I should take Acronis completely off and reinstall it?

Thanks
Nik

I have upgraded to version 6696 and deleted previous attempts to save email. Starting clean I tried to back up my email, however I am getting the same error message that it failed to back up my Outlook Profile. Several frustrations here. Why can't Acronis back up something as necessary as Outlook Email that probably a vast majority of their customer use. Why don't they offer email or live chat support to sort such issues out? Why even though I am in silent mode does the back up stop and require me to deal with a dialog when I get this error message because when I select ignore it finishes the operation and the log says the operation has succeeded yet something (the Outlook profile has not been backed up) Makes me wonder what I am missing. My work around has been to back up the Outlook data files when I back up data every day. This way if I have a crash, I could set up a new email account and import the data files but what a hassle. Why can't Acronis build a program to do the most basic of operations -- back up my Outlook email in a simple click and forget operation?

I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 on a Sony VAIO machine less than a year old with Office 2007

Acronis are now looking into this issue, I am providing them with the system configuration etc, will post when I hear back.

Hi Steve,

I am a very very basic user!!

I had to copy across a .DMP file which was 192 MB to an Acronis file server last night along with the other various files they requested, they have emailed back this morning to communicate that they are working aggressively to resolve this bug, as soon as I hear from them I shall post.

In fairness to them they are communicating very well at present.

Thanks
Nikki

Thanks Nikki,

I look forward to hearing what you learn and the resolution of this bug

Steve

Hello all,

Thank you for posting.

I will definitely help you.

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience but this e-mail backup failure needs to be investigated individually.

Nikki, your case has been escalated to our Expert team and I am confident that we will get this fixed.

Steven and Trevor, please contact our Support team so that we can resolve this issue for you.

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Thank you.

Nikki and Steve,

I too am getting the same error messages about failing to backup my Outlook 2007 Profiles. I use TI2011 (Build 6696) on Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP2.

Anton,

I've reviewed all the pertinent KB articles (15189 and 15198) and everything checks out fine. BTW I did notice that in Build 6696 the issue described in KB Article 15197 still happens.

I'll be opening a Support case on this and sending along a TI2011 System Report.

John

Hi all,

I am at work at the moment thus have not been able to check this out but Acronis have been in touch saying that one of the backup log file error messages relating to this states 'access denied' for Outlook 2007, they have asked me to look at the user groups under compmgmt.msc to ensure that my primary login for Windows 7 is actually a member of 'administrators'. I would be suprised if it wasn't already as this is the only account on the system which allows me to install programs etc therefore it should already be an admin account as it does indeed state within Control Panel>users accounts 'administrative account'.

The KB for this is 15198.

I will keep you all posted with any findings.

Nik

As I thought, after checking my account profile it is already set as an adminstrator, even 'run as adminstrator' within acronis still makes the error occur when backing up outlook 2007.

I have emailed acronis with a screen dump proving this.

Hi all,

I seem to have the same error while trying to do an e-mail backup using ATI home 2011 (build 6696).

As you can notice on the attached jpg file, the backup process opens an outlook window awaiting me to check the user mailbox.
Even after clicking the OK box, the window opens again awaiting a new OK etc.
I tried the backup with and without Outlook 2010 running in the background. Same error.

I use Windows 7 pro 64, outlook 2010 and a hosted MS Exchange 2010 service (not my own Exchange server).

Hi Bruno,

There have been many issues with email backup in ATI 2011. Some of them were fixed with the latest build that you have. I guess more fixes will be available later.
In the meantime, consider using a regular ATI file backup for your outlook files (.PST and .OST). This won't backup your settings, but your email should be OK.

Besides ATI, there are other tools that do a good job backing up Outlook. For example, GenieTimeline (free) backs up Outlook settings and incrementally outlook files. This is the one I use.

Hi All,

Due to various other issues I was having with Outlook 2007 and the fact that Acronis still haven't bothered to fix the problem I have now migrated to Mozilla Thunderbird as my email client, feeding the emails via an IMAP server. I can always get hold of an email again from the server should a local fault occur or roll back my Acronis system image daily backup.

Outlook has always been buggy anyway but with this incompatibility with Acronis I just gave up, Thunderbird although not quite as pretty has run seamlessly since, I am however disappointed with the loss of momentum with Acronis technical support of this widespread issue.
