TIH2012 how back up full spindle - restore full spindle?

I see where I can back up multiple partitions, so I can back up all the partitions on a spindle, but how do I restore it? - Trying a restore with bootable media it presents as just a jumble of partitions in no particular order. - MBR first? or just check everything and pray... LOL

Or did I miss that one somewhere? LOL

I have a laptop and would like to be able to back up and restore at will, an image of the spindle with its 4 partitions.

Thanks.

Kris,

You should backup all your partitions using a disk and partition backup (no need to turn on the sector by sector feature).
When you restore, you are right that the partitions are not displayed as they are laid out on the disk. THat doesn't matter.
If you want to restore a single partition, select that single partition and restore it.
If you want to restore the whole disk, check all partitions and the MBR+Track0 OR check the box at the disk level (that will produce the same result).

On top of this, the drive letters you see when you use the bootable CD are NOT the same as in Windows (usually). So make sure you have partition labels you can easily differentiate.

Fantabulous! Thanks Pat!!!!!!!

EDIT - actually it shows it more clearly on the one under Win, than on the bootable media. And the drive letters shown are indeed the same.

Thanks again!

In my (fresh) experience, Acronis Bootable Media mixes up the partition names expressed as capitals (C, D, etc).

If you didn't provide some other, friendlier names to each partition, it's guesswork.

Perhaps you may select guided by the partition sizes.

Yes indeedy, I just checked and the Win version orders them correctly, with correct partition letters.  But more importantly it offers "switch to disk mode" which just shows the 1 spindle , which is precisely what I want.  Very easy!

Sorry, I didn't get it, what "Win version" means?

AH!  my shorthand for differentiating between the bootable media, and the one we usually run under WIN.  Namely TIH2012.
