Transferring to new pc

Thread needs solution

I have an older pc with Windows XP and all my data. How do I transfer all of the information on the old pc to the new pc. The newer pc is running Windows 7 and I want to keep running the Windows 7 on the newer pc. I ran a backup last night of the C: and D: drives on my old pc. The backup is on an external drive. Also, I need to move the Microsoft Office from the old pc to the new one. Thanks for the help.

Once True Image is installed on the new PC, you can mount or open a .tib backup image. Once open, you can transfer/copy files you want from the backup to the new drive, using Windows Explorer.

You cannot copy Microsoft Office, or any installed applications, from the old PC to the new PC. Windows does not allow that. Simply copying over application files would not work, as installed applications are more than just a collection of files as they also have many Windows Registry entries.
