Transistion from True Image 2009 to 2010
There are some practical errors on my part but would value some guidance on what to do next. My system was operating with Vista Home Premium with True Image 2009. In a moment of indisgression, I decided to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7 but it went very wrong (another story) and ended up [with help of Microsoft] doing a full installation of Windows 7.
The downside is Windows 7 full installation erased all my applications and files. However to rescue methinks, is True Image 2009 but here is my problem - firstly I find out True Image 2009 is not Window 7 compatible plus I don't want to re-install (by accident or otherwise) any old Vista registry data or system files on top of Windows 7 (disaster I'm told). Ideally what I want to know is can I simply erase my True Image 2009 archived files, uninstall 2009 and install True Image 2010 and start from scratch with Windows 7. Any genuine advice appreciated.

Hi Colin
Many thanks for the helpful inputs - your a star. With respect to your comments, through Microsoft I've recovered most of my document files from windows.old but the applications [plus data] are unuseable as they are "Vista" contaminated so to speak. The reality was the W7 installation saga even erased IR2009 so I was forced to re-install it to see if I could salvage the situation - that's when my concerns over compatibility issues surfaced. I wasn't sure how IR2009 would cope with the system "going down" under Vista and waking up under W7. My remaining concern relates to erasing IR2009 files - is there a preferred/safe way to do this using IR2009? - I have a dedicated external drive solely for backup but I dont think I want to do a blanket erase as the drive itself has resident "operating" software on disk. Apologies if I sound naive but I'm still treading carefully after my (so called simple) W7 upgrade.
Best David

David,
IR2009 = TI 2009?
Assuming the above, if currently there is no Acronis imaging product installed you are safe just deleting the image files as you would any other file.
IF you have installed TI, and under the recovery option it lists the images, then you ought to delete the images from within TI. Highlight the image in the recovery list, right click and choose delete.
