Trouble restoring from differential backup

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI Home v.11. My backup scheme is to do one zero level and then a differential every few days. Eventually, the disk where I store my backups gets full so I'd like to delete all but the most recent differential. Problem is when I try to restore from the last differential ATI seems to want all the previous differentials. Since they've been deleted I can't do a restore.

The docs say restoring from a differential requires only the zero level and _one_ of the differential archives so why
does ATI insist on having the entire collection of differential archives present? Has this problem been fixed in subsequent releases?

Thanks in advance,
eric

A truly differential backup requires only the first full backup plus the differential of your choice. Attempt a validation when booted from the Rescue CD and see what the response is.

You error message would be applicable to incremental type backups.

Why not consider a better solution.

This could easily be achieved using Chain2Gen (C2G) which is a helper program for TrueImageHome (TIH). C2G was written by forum contributor MVP Oracledba. Designed for the 2010 versions but will probably work on prior versions as well.

TrueImage runs the tasks which does the scheduling and creates the backups, whereas, C2G provides the controls on when the full backup should be created. or how many to be retained. C2G offers many choices.
