True Image 2009 won't work on ... Asus M3a motherboard, Phenom 9850

Thread needs solution

Hello

I just upgraded to Acronis True Image 2009 a few months ago.

I didn't think to check the bootable rescue media as True Image 9 worked in safe mode quite well.

Three month old Seagate used as my Windows XP OS drive died. I have daily backups.

I have tried booting Acronis True Image 2009 with various combinations of the settings:

no USB, no PCMIA, no SCSI, acpi=off, noapic

tried AHCI and Enhanced IDE settings in BIOS

the most I get is Acronis Loading, Please Wait

I'm not sure what to try next ...

Thanks for your time,

Bobby

I can only see three options for you.

1. Download the Acronis safe media package, make a new CD and see if that will work for you.

2.Use Chat or email  Acronis support with your licence number and details includingyour motheboard chipset and see if Acronis can make a special ISO version of the CD for you.

3. Make a new rescue CD using the BartPE or VistaPE environments. As both of these use Windows drivers you are more likely to ahve success with them.

The VistaPE is not available from Acronis and will require you to download WAIK from Microsoft . Not sure if Grover has got the links on how to make a VistaPE rescue disk up and running yet or if Mustang still has the scripts for sale (at a very reasonable price).

Thank you Bodgy,

It appears the safe media package is working ... I forgot it was a seperate download.

I'm doing a validate archive now.

I'm running a preclear_disk.sh program on the new disk now.  It was written by Joe L on the unR**d / L*m* T*chn*l*g* board for burning in new disks ... it takes a smart report at the begining ... it reads the entire disk, then writes zeros to the complete drive, then reads the entire drive again and then takes another smart report and does a diff with the first smart report.

I'm hoping that will help make sure this new drive is working right before I do a restore ...

Thanks for your time,

Bobby

Hi Bobby--

I have the same motherboard and CPU, except I have TI 10. I have never had any trouble booting into the rescue environment. Is there some difference between TI 10 and TI 2009 that would account for this difference? It would be nice to know before I upgrade...anyway, I hope TI 2009 is now working smoothly for you.

The drivers included in the Linux version of TI change with every build and also with updated ISO releases. If you have a version/build that works correctly with the computer's hardware, you're probably better off staying with it.

Otherwise, do a backup with what works and then try the TI 2009 trial version. If it causes problems, just restore back.

Here's the thing: I am going to be running 64-bit Windows 7. I'm dual-booting Win7 RC 64-bit With XP 32-bit SP3 now, but have been making my Win7 images via the recovery CD outside of Windows.  I'm waiting for TI 2010, I think, and will download the trial version of that to install. Or maybe I'll get brave and beta-test, if I can get a few questions answered. But I don't know if it's a wonderful idea to install 32-bit TI 10, a few years old now, on 64-bit Win 7 RC.

Hello all,

Andromeda492, we would not recommend you to install this product on Windows 7, it's not supported officially. We haven't tested it with Windows 7 and we are unable to guarantee compatibility...

Thank you.
