Dell Dimension 5150 SATA Drive seems to clone to identical drive but WON'T Boot. I can mount the drive on another system and see the typical files. My reputation is at stake here. Help!?
OS = XP.

Did you do the cloning from TI in XP or from the TI CD?

Was the destination drive connected internally or via USB?

Did you disconnect the source drive before trying to boot the new drive?

Do you get an error message when you try to boot the new drive?

I cloned on a separate (HP) XP system running TI with two extra sata cables. When I try to boot from the clone on the Dimension 5150 I see nothing. I do have the boot track fixer CD from Acronis. I will run it and see if it appears bootable on my HP system. I'll update the post when done.
Thanks for your interest. Been at this off and on for several months. In between I have cloned 6 drives successfully and even tested the drive by cloned a different system on to the drive in question and it worked perfectly. I wonder if Dell has put a kill on this sort of operation in their bios, etc.?

Some computers use non-standard drive geometry (including some HP models). Mixing these between computers doesn't work.

The best cloning results are usually obtained by having the destination drive installed in the destination computer when the cloning is performed. In this case, you would need to have the new drive installed in the Dell, boot to the TI CD, and then do the cloning.

MudCrab: You may be correct on this issue. I can mount cloned drive on my HP PC; in fact it began to boot on the HP when I tried it; quickly shut it down. Thought I was home free. I wonder if I can look at the drive and see it the partitions are ordered correctly. Suggestions? Is Dell any help?
