True Image 2010 - corrupt backup and correct backup

Thread needs solution

Hey there,

One of my HD crashed recently. I had a scheduled backup that would run regularly for two partitions, a system partition, and a my docs partition, both of which were on the same HD.

I was able to restore the system partition but I am unable to restore the "my docs" partition

I tried mounting/restoring/restoring files/validating all of which do not work. I get a message saying the data file is corrupt

I am not sure what is causing the issue. One possible explanation would be that the backup was a differential backup and one of the TIB file is missing. Another would be that the computer crashed while doing the backup. Nevertheless, the corrupt TIB file is +/- 150gigs which leaves me hoping that there is a way to recover some of the data that was in there

Any help would be immensely appreciated,

Guy

OK so I am now on my recovered system partition, I see my computer exactly how it was before the HD crash. I can see my Acronis TI logs and see that the MyDocuments backup task has been completed. I see one backup file named MyDocuments1.TIB However, when I try to recover that file I am getting the foillowing error THIS IS NOT THE LAST VOLUME OF THE BACKUP ARCHIVE. obviously, this means a MyDocuments.TIB got deleted somehow. I can't seem to find it using a deleted file recovery software.

Is there any to extract data out of the MyDocuments1.TIB without the MyDocuments.TIB?

Thanks,

Guy

Can you double click on the TIB file? It could open like a regular windows folder and you could see what is inside.

I did, it doesn't work.

I am unsure the backup really was an incremental backup. It seems like the file is corrupt for a reason or another. Is there any way to repair a corrupt file?

Nope. There is no tool to repair a corrupt .TIB file.

Sometimes though a file deemed corrupt in windows might work with the recovery CD (restore, or mount).

But if you are missing a file in the backup chain, I don't know of anything to fix that.
