True Image 2011 (Home) fails to clone, even after program repair. Windows 7
I’ve been using Acronis True Image (Home) 2011 for years to clone Windows C drives for/from my Window 7 (64 bit) laptop.
I last successfully cloned with True Image late in 2019. But I wasn’t cloning this particular C drive; it was a backup C drive.
THE PROBLEM-FAILURE: A few days ago, I attempted to clone my main Windows 7 Pro-64 C drive.
After confirming that True Image started when the laptop started: The cloning didn’t work.
After a normal set up, the process ended with a message bubble over my Windows System Tray saying something like: “process paused, reboot necessary, will cancel if no action taken within 10 minutes”. See jpeg of message bubble.
There was NO NORMAL DIALOG BOX saying “reboot necessary, do you wish to reboot now?”
Rebooting the computer did NOT initiate the clone process. The computer simply restarted normally.
So, I started a re-installation of True Image, knowing that there was a repair option within the process. I selected the repair function, let it run, and did the required system reboot.
Then attempted to clone my C drive, but again experienced the same failure described above.
I repeated the repair process, and the cloning failed again in the same manner.
The plug/cable/case I’m using for this cloning attempt is not new. It’s the gear I’ve used for years. My computer has no trouble seeing the drive to which I’m attempting to clone my C drive. The drive I’m cloning to is blank, but fully formatted as an NTFS drive. I’m using the same USB-3 ports on my laptop for the cloning attempts. I’m hardly new to using True Image to clone C drives.
I even made sure to unplug all USB storage devices, since others in these forums have reported them causing trouble. But such devices haven’t caused problems in the past for me.
The C drive, my main one that I’m attempting to clone, was cloned from a dying Western Digital 750GB platter drive to this current 1TB Seagate Firecuda hybrid drive in April 2018, and the destination drive is the same Seagate Firecuda model.
Any ideas?
