True Image 2012 Trial Version to RESTORE 2010 Backup Archive Files

I made a clone archive (.TIB) file of my hard drive using full version of True Image Home 2010 to an external drive. When I went to restore the archive (Windows 7 OS) it got hung up after a couple of minutes during the recovery and then an error message appeared "Text_linex_error_common_direct_rw_failed (0x59001)" The hard drive is fine and the external drive is fine. Then I installed the trial version of True Image Home 2012 (thinking it was a Win 7 compatibility issue) and tried to recover the same archive backup and got the same error message. What is the problem here and what do I need to do to RECOVER the clone archive of my hard drive? This is getting annoying. I have the full version of 2010, but does it not work well with Windows 7? Does the trial version of 2012 work with Win 7? Thanks for any help here....
