True Image 2012 won't trim size of backups

Thread needs solution

I have a 3 TB external drive (NAT) that formats to 2.7 TB. With TI set to not allow the size of the backups to exceed 2.5 TB, it ignored that setting. I tried setting it to 2.3 TB, but that changed nothing.

What should I do? I can't afford a larger drive at this time.

Sigh. No response.

I have never found TI to work well with disk size limits or elapsed days as part of the backup scheme, this is why I suggested your using the option "store x number of recent versions" as per my prior response

At this point, depending upon the type of backup, you will need to cleanup or start over with my suggested settings--as a possible option.

My experience has been that changing the settings on a working backup task almost never produces the desired results.
The rules I practice and recommend is that create the task and then leave it along--except possibly for a schedule change which can be done from the main menu without using the "edit settings" option.

Also, Acronis commented in one of their postings about the release of 2014 that they had spent considerable time working to fix these type problems.
I don't know whether the disk size option was fixed or no but the "store no more than X...." does seem to work well in 2014.

Just one user to another user opinion.

Added help:
GH11. Create Custom Full Backup Scheme.Keep 4 versions (chains). The 4 is user choice.
GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is user choice.
GH13. Create Custom Differential Backup Scheme. 2 Diff, Keep 2 chains. The 2-2 is user choice.
GH14. Custom Differential Backup Scheme . 6 Diff, Keep 4 chains. & folder

Well, the upgrade seems to have solved the problem. I really would have preferred not upgrading, but if it solved the problem...
