True Image 2014 backup completes but file not found

Thread needs solution

I created a backup using True Image 2014 build 6673. The process seemed to complete normally, but when I looked for the .tib file, it could not be found.
When trying to validate the backup, I was able to browse for the file within TI, but it could not be found within Windows Explorer. I like to copy the .tib file as a backup for the backup (it's not crazy - it happens).
How is that possible?

Any ideas most appreciated.

Sounds like the file may be hidden. Do you have Show Hidden Files and Folders enabled in Explorer?

I had a similar problem today and some time ago.
And show-hidden files is on but does not show anything.

[Using Acronis True Image 2014, build 6673 under Windows 8.1.]

After making a full backup from my system drives (Windows, Sys and Data, 2 disks, totally 150 GB) it happened now twice that I ended up with a “ghost”-backup (none existing file). The first time it happened, the backup was made booting from a rescue-CD, the second time from a Flash (USB) stick. Both times Validation was enabled at the end of the process, no errors were reported at the end. I also wrote the log to my backup hard disk, but this was at the end also a “ghost” file!

After rebooting with Windows I checked the backup files with Windows File-Explorer. At the instant of clicking on the folder the backup file was only briefly visible and with a -one time message- “File corrupt. I could not get this message again. This means also that validation is no guaranty of proof of success.

Making a new rescue bootable flask-USB-disk (on another stick) gave better results. I cannot say yet that this solves mentioned problems in the future.

I am very worried if we cannot trust and rely on the functioning of this important application (and the validation process) when it returns with no errors.

I finds that, after the update to build 6673, the True Image program on the (bootable) rescue-media is now less responsive then that of the former build (6614). One have to click more often (on some places) to get the cursor there where you want it, or get an action from a command.

Any experts that can solve this or advise on this strange behavior?

Ori,
This illustrates one method of finding the location of the backup file when backup performed within Windows.

If the task was performed when booted from the CD, you can still do the search in Windows and
perform a Windows search for
*.TIB
and search all drives be sure any external disks are also attadhed when performing the search.
