True Image Home 2011 Won't Behave

Thread needs solution

I have been using Acronis True Image since 2007. I started with True Image 10, then True Image 11, then True Image Home 2009, and now True Image Home 2011.

The first versions worked fine, but I upgraded through the years to get the latest features. The True Image Home 2011 I now have is the worst piece of software I have ever owned. No matter what I do to program it, the software just does what it wants to.

I want to do a complete backup of both drives on my computer every night as a single version replacing the one made the night before. I want to backup My System, C:\drive, Factory Image on D:\drive, and my Data Drive F:\. If I have a complete system crash, I want to be able to replace the drives and put everything back on just like it was.

So I specify single version, and click on System, C:\, D:\ and F:\. When the backup is done in the early morning, I may get an incremental backup, and even two backups at different times. Or it may decide to do just one backup. When I look at the What to backup, the System and C:\ are still checked, but the program unchecks the D:\ and F:\ drives. It is slowly driving me crazy, and I am about to start looking for something that actually does what I tell it to do.

DeweyMan,

There are a couple of situations that could explain what you see:
- some error on your part as you set up the backup. Follow Grover's guide accurately to make sure this is not the case: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/28705 . For users coming from previous versions, it is key to understand that 2011 uses the notion of backup tasks. A task is set to be full, incremental or differential at the onset. To add an incremental to a full, you run the incremental task a second time... It doesn't look like you are one of these users, so let's move on...
- some rogue task still in the scheduler. Uninstalling 2011, using the cleanup utility found here can help clean that: http://kb.acronis.com/content/14871 . Be sure to follow all instructions carefully. Do not let the utility reboot your computer before you finish the instructions.
- in the scheduling of the task, you have checked to run missed backups on startup. In this case, it is possible that ATI is catching up with missed tasks.
