True Image Home 2012 Stops Running

While backing up using TIH 2012 the program stops after backing up with the notice "calculating time" most probably before going into the validate process. After 15 minutes of no apparent activity, I cancelled the job. The log for the jobs is the usual dense and unreadable gibberish that TIH produces; never any true explanation of what happened for the user. Any explanation or help greatly appreciated.
