TrueImage 2014 Support for EXT4/EXT3
I'm looking through the user's manual trying to determine if I should upgrade. I'm a Linux user and have been using True Image on my EXT3/EXT4 media in the past. However, in the 2014 manual is now says:
"When booting from the Rescue Media, you cannot perform backups to disks or partitions with
Ext2/Ext3/Ext4, ReiserFS, and Linux SWAP file systems."
This says that I cannot perform backups with EXT4/EXT3 any longer if I can't backup to a disk or a partition of a disk. What am I supposed to use for backup media? Tape? Floppy? Or what?
TIA,
Mike

Hello Michael, Colin!
Colin, you are absolutely right, the Ext3/Ext4 file systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery.
Here you can read more about supported file systems in Acronis True Image 2014.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you.

Oh, OK. I got tripped up by the English being used here. So the "with" should actually be "to". If I image a disk with EXT4 partitions, I have to image that to an NTFS formatted disk? That seems odd given that the recovery media is actually running a copy of Linux. But, there's always a difference between "possible" and "supported" I guess.

It says just that.
"When booting from the Rescue Media, you cannot perform backups "TO" disks or partitions with Ext2/Ext3/Ext4, ReiserFS, and Linux SWAP file systems."
With could be changed to 'formatted as' or something similar, but I was able to understand the statement just fine, but my field of expertise is also in IT, so that's why it may have made sense to me, and not others.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I now understand the intent of the entry in the manual. So, things really haven't changed and I can continue to use acronis to make my Linux backups.
