TrueImageHome 2010 (English) released
I see no discussion here as yet about this groundbreaking event...
Here are the release notes FYI. The boot-from-VHD feature could be useful if it works :)
What's new in Acronis True Image Home 2010
" Continuous Data Protection &mdask; Acronis Nonstop Backup™ automatically creates incremental backups every five minutes allowing users to roll back their system, files, and folders to any point in time.
" Support for Microsoft® Windows 7 - Delivers more comprehensive functionality over Microsoft Windows 7 backup capabilities.
" Virtual Hard Disk SupportSave backup images (.tib) as virtual hard disk (.vhd) files - Run your existing system as a virtual machine, or boot using Windows 7 Ultimate.
" New Powerful Scheduler - In addition to the scheduling tools found in previous versions, the new scheduler expands the amount of scheduling options available. Use the new calendar view to build schedules and tasks. Suspend and enable tasks, specify dates to run tasks, and copy tasks to new dates.
" Boot from Windows 7 image - Windows 7 Ultimate users can boot from a backup image (.tib file) containing a backup of their system partition. This will allow the ability to test a backed up system without actual restoration. If the operating system boots from the .tib file, then it will boot when the need arises for a system recovery.
" Try & Decide New features:
o Try & Decide now can protect your system not only to Acronis Secure Zone, but to the protected volume itself, or any other volume
o Multivolume Protection - now users can protect not only a single system partition during Try & Decide session, but as many volumes, as needed. This is very handy when the applications being installed make changes on two volumes and in many other cases.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS & SUPPORTED OPERATING SYSTEMS
The hardware requirements of Acronis True Image Home correspond to the minimum requirements for the operating system installed on the computer to be used for running Acronis True Image Home.
In addition Acronis True Image Home requires the following hardware:
" CD-RW/DVD-RW drive for bootable media creation
" Mouse or other pointing device (recommended).
Using Acronis Nonstop Backup requires at least 1 GB RAM.
Acronis True Image Home rescue media has the following hardware requirements:
" 256 MB RAM
" Processor Pentium 1 GHz or faster
Supported operating systems
Acronis True Image Home has been tested on the following operating systems:
" Windows XP SP3
" Windows XP Professional x64 Edition
" Windows Vista SP2 (all editions)
" Windows 7 (all editions)
Acronis True Image Home also enables creation of a bootable CD-R/DVD-R that can back up and recover a disk/partition on a computer running any Intel- or AMD- based PC operating system, including Linux®. The only exception is the Intel-based Apple Macintosh, which is currently not supported in native mode.
INSTALLATION NOTES & KNOWN ISSUES
Installation procedure is straightforward. Run the downloaded executable file and follow the wizard's instructions.
The known issues noted below apply to all operating systems supported by Acronis True Image Home 2010 unless otherwise specified.
NonStop Backup
" NonStop Backup may consume high CPU resources when backing up large amounts of data (for example, 20.000 files simultaneously).
" NonStop Backup cannot restore partitions to arbitrary locations - original location only.
" Removing NonStop storage brings up an empty error message. Just click quit and ignore the message. The storage will be removed once True Image closes.
" NonStop turns off during installation of Acronis Disk Director. Once stopped, NonStop can be turned on manually from the system tray, or the True Image console.
" NonStop Backup cannot be restarted again if stopped on a computer with Kaspersky Anti.Virus (KAV) previously installed
" You cannot perform image restore of a partition from a NonStop backup, if this partition is currently removed from a list of protected partitions. File.level restore works normally for such partitions.
Online Backup
" Online Backup during backing up large amounts of frequently changing data (e.g. database files), backup may stop after couple of hours or give an error "Failed to enumerate directory...". Please, restart backup in this case.
Try & Decide
" Acronis Try & Decide stops working after upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. To get it to work, please, reinstall True Image after the upgrade.
" Please, do not resize partitions when Try & Decide session is on, as it may lead to unbootable Operating System.
Bootable Media
" Acronis Bootable Media cannot detect RAID 10
" (Windows Vista and Windows 7 only)Disk backup created with the Acronis True Image media (CD) cannot be explored with windows explorer.
" Acronis Bootable Media incorrectly detects the USB HDD WD PP3 Studio2
Miscellaneous
" Your computer must be rebooted between installation of Acronis Disk Director and Acronis True Image
" To boot from a native VHD archive, the archive needs to be mounted with the Windows Disk Manager
" Clone operation may fail when the size of the volume being cloned exceeds 1TB
" Restoring of a system partition to original place does not work if the backup is located on the Network Direct Attached Storage (NDAS).
" Acronis Secure Zone cannot be created right after applying changes, made in the Try & Decide mode. Please reboot to enable this functionality again.
" When exploring encrypted backups, created in the Consolidation wizard, the Windows Explorer may crash (it doesn't apply to all other encrypted backups).
" Restoring WinMail emals exceeding 10,000 may result in some emails not getting restored.
" Scheduled e-mail backup task fail if .pst file is password protected.
" Silent mode does not apply to Iomega rev drive
Kindest regards,
Acronis Team

I have just upgraded to Truimage Home 2010 from 2009. Installation says all was successful, but when I try to run it, I get 'Acronis True Image has stopped working' immediately. This happens every time. I am running Win Vista 32 bit. I uninstalled 2010 and reinstalled 2009. All is back to working fine. I retry the installation of 2010 and the same problem happens. Does anyone have any ideas?
