trying to create a disk image to keep on my external disk
Good morning,
For the record I am running a HP 64-bitPavilion p7-1157c AMD A6-3600 APU w/Radeon ™ HD Graphics, 2.10GHz, 8 GBs of Memory, Win 7 Pro SP1, IE 9, Comodo Internet Security Suite, SuperAntiSpyware Pro, Trojan Hunter, Malwarebytes Anti Malware, Spyware Blaster and Windows Defender.
Yesterday I upgraded from Acronis TI 11 to TI 13 because they were offering a special holiday price. I did a backup of my hard drive and system to my external hard drive. When it was finished I noticed it still hadn't been validated and I was given the choice to 'backup Now' or 'Recover'. This was new to me since with the old TI 11 the entire operation (creating the image and validating it was done in one operation).
Can anyone just tell me how I go about creating a 'full image of my hard drive' to store on my external disk so it is ready if ever needed?
Thanks and regards,

Hi GroverH,
Your name is familiar from a few years back when I must have pushed your patience to the limit then too .... lol
I just followed the #2 link you furnished and it did create a full image of my hard drive on my external hard drive and also validated it at the same time.
I just want to make sure I am understanding TI 2013 correctly. Now when I bring up the main Acronis screen and click on 'Backup and Recovery' the screen comes up showing the disk image I just made. To the right of the screen it says "Back up Now" and "Recover".
Why is it giving me the opportunity to "Back up Now" after I have already done that and the back up copy is already on my external hard drive?
Thanks and regards,

Yes, I am getting to be an antique. If I can help, you are more than welcome.
RE: The "backup now " option. Think of it as the meaning implies.
1. Some users do not use the scheduler so all backups are created via the pressing the Backup now option.
2. Other users use the scheduler but supplement their schedule by pressing the backup now option at any time they wish additional backups.
3. If your backups is always of the same material, you only need to create one task and all backups are created via the scheduler or the Backup Now options so additional tasks are not needed.
Just make sure that the material included in your backup of all your partitions as illustrated in figure 4 & 5 at the line 2 inside my signature below.

Hi again GroverH,
Once again thank you for your added information. I am sure I will have more questions coming because even after reading the program's help files I am still struggling with some of its differences from Acronis TI 2011.
Have a great weekend!
Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
