Unable to backup c: to WD 1 TB drive - E000101F4: failed to write data

Thread needs solution

Previously I have used Acronis True Image 11 Home to back up my Windows XP C drive to an external 500GB ESATA drive booting Acronis from the CDROM.

I have obtained a new 1 TB Western Digital external drive. Now when I try to backup my c: to this new external drive, I am receiving the following error: E000101F4: Failed to write data on the disk. Touching 'retry' does not help. Touching 'ignore all' does allow the backup to complete, but I am not comfortable with the integrity of the backup. Can anyone help me find the cause of this problem?

I just tried to do the exact same thing, and had the exact same result.

I am trying to create an image of my HP laptop's C-Drive, and store that image on my external USB-connected hard drive, a Western Digital 1 TB drive. After Acronis worked on the image for about 5 hours, I got the same error message: E000101F4: failed to write data on the disc." As I clicked on "Ignore," it kept reporting sectors that it could not write to. I had to click the Ignore All option for it to continue. It continued on for another hour. Then it got to "1 minute 15 seconds remaining" and just froze there. I could not cancel or stop -- I had to turn the power off to the laptop to escape.
