Unable to restore RAID 0 Array with WinPE Boot

Thread needs solution

I am able to successfully backup a RAID 0 array, however recovery is not working. I have built recommended WINPE .iso, using Plus Pack, injecting RAID controller drivers. I created both bootable CD and USB flash drive. I tested the CD and flash drive in a laptop and it boots properly and loads Acronis True Image 2013 and the application runs properly.

However, on the HP Workstation X420 with RAID 0 (Intel C600 RAID Controller), I get the following.

After booting from either CD or flash drive, the workstation loads windows PE and pops up the command prompt window. As it is loading trueimage.exe I get a critical stop box (that does not happen on laptop).

The box is titled:
Tooltip: trueimage.exe-Application Error

In the box is this:
"the exception unknown software exception (0x0000015) occurred in the application at location 0x749746b4. Click OK to terminate program."

Google hasn't a clue about this message. I can find no reference on the boards about this error message. It must be a hardware issue, but the error isn't explicit enough to guide me to a solution. Please help.

When building the WinPE .iso, did you use the 32 bit (x86) drivers for your Intel C600 controller downloaded from the Intel website to do the injection?

Yes I did use the 32bit driver. I verified this is the needed driver for my workstation.

Just to help with troubleshooting the error, can you build another WinPE ISO without the RST drivers injected, and test the WinPE version of True Image without the driver? I know this will not allow you to see the C600 RAID controller properly, but may point to why the True Image application is failing. If this works, create another new WinPE ISO with the driver injection as before and test again.

I am ready to ask for a refund of Acronis 2013 AND the Plus pack. I'll go with a competitor that will make inserting drivers easier. I tested one without driver insertion and it booted all the way up in PE, however the array wasn't visible, and I didn't expect it to be...however it works without errors.

I'm confused by your last two posts.

In post #4 you stated that without the drivers you get the same error.
In post #5 you stated that without the drivers it boots all the way up.

Assuming that without the RSTe drivers being injected, the True Image program in WinPE works okay,
Have you tried to create a new WinPE, injecting the drivers from the link I posted (post #1 above)?

There are two sets of 32 bit (x86) drivers (located in the drivers\x86 folder), one for the AHCI RAID controller and one for the Storage Controller Unit.

Be sure to have used the correct one, or inject both, one after the other to be sure.

I'm also having trouble finding a "HP Workstation x420". Is this the correct model number?
