Unable to select items in Backup List

Thread needs solution

Hi,
I just upgraded from ATI 2009 Home to ATI 2015 and I'm a little bit confused by the new interface.
I have a Windows 8.1 sytem and several partition backups created with ATI 2009 located or in a disk partition or in a NAS share. I can see them or add them.
BUT I CANNOT SELECT THEM !
When I click on an item in the list in the left pane the backgroud became darker but the right pane doesn't change; in the top line I always have the name of the same backup, the next line says "You can only recover data from this backup. To create new versions, reconfigure the backup.". When I click on "Recover Disk" I get always the same data (number of files, folders, Gb). The useful description of the backup I inserted at backup creation is not visible.

What am I missing? Don't tell me that I cannot recover data from backups made with previous versions of ATI?

What does it mean "reconfigure the backup". If, when the backup list is open, I click on "Operations" and then "Reconfigure", it seems like am going to start with a new backup.

Thanks, Lauro

You should be able to recover an image made by a previous version of TI. I think though that TI 2009 was one where the imaging algorithm was changed, but I don't think that should make a difference.

Can you validate the images?

Does the 2015 recovery media allow recovery of the images?

As far as reconfigure goes, if you wish to use the carried over tasks, you will need to select the reconfigure option. However, I would strongly suggest you make new tasks and a new set of images.

Thank you Colin for your reply.

My first impression with the new UI is very bad. Sometime trying to be very simple makes things complicated. Maybe I should go back to ATI 2014...

Anyway...

The backup list is not consistent: always only a backup seems to be usable, but sometime has has a green tick, sometime not.
When I try "Operations|Validate" it seems that operates always on the same backup.

Then I struggled, and I'm still struggling, with the building of rescue disks.

1) I succeded in create the simple "Acronis bootable rescue media". I couldn't get in my NAS (wich is not under NAS, but Computers Near Me), then after several hours I understood that my Italian keyboard was not recognized; and finally I was able to enter my password. On my wireless laptop sometime I was able to join my network, sometime not.
Some backup made with ATI2009 seemed to be OK, other not (regardeless they were on my Hard Disk or my NAS.

2) I'm having problem in creating Win-PE based media and Universal restore.

2a) Where to collect all the drivers (*.inf) needed for my laptop HP (windows 7) and my desktop (win 8.1)?
2b) How to set my keyboard be recognized (also for the normal rescue media that I succed in doing)
2b) I tryed to integrate the Acronis help file "Creating a custom WinPE 3.0 ISO with your drivers" working with AIK with this tutorial (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825212.aspx) working with ADK (what I have on windows 8.1) but I can't put together the winpe.iso or winp.wim file with ATI2015. In a video on you tube, using ATI2014, was clear that youd had to choose the .win file previously created to genarate the Acronis rescue media. But AT2015 doesn't ask my where to find it.

I will be very gratefully if you would help me again, Lauro

Just one question Lauro, before I wander off to think, are you using the English or Italian language build of 2015?

I was beginning to think that I was the only one experiencing this behavior. It was the primary reason that I requested a refund. When backups from older versions of True Image are added to the backup list, the program gets stuck on one and will only display the information for that archive and will only recover data from that one archive. Removing the archive that True Image is stuck on from the backup list results in the program getting stuck on another random archive. The following screenshots illustrate the issue.

Hi Colin,
I'm using the English version of ATI2015 (also windows 8.1 is in English) but the keyboard is the Italian.
Thanks, Lauro

Hi Joey,
your screenshots illustrate exactly the same problem I'm experiencing. The only difference is that sometime the backup who gets stuck has a green tick on it, sometime not.
I tried as you suggest to remove the stuck backup and, as in your case, someone else get stucked

Hi Colin,

I know is a difficult for you to answer.

I purchased ATI 2015 English version only 10 days ago. Should, and could, I try to go back to ATI 2014? And possible the Italian Version? Or just the 2015 Italian?

Generally I prefer to choose the English version of a software just to be able to ask more easely question to a wider audience.

The feeling for touch screen of ATI2015 is only disturbing for me. But if has other important improvements on the 2014, maybe it is better.

thank again, Lauro

Lauro,

I have a feeling the problem may be that the English language version doesn't have the keyboard mappings for the Italian language keyboard. There used to be a way of changing F-key mappings in the Linux cfg11 file (I think).

So, the 2014 media didn't have this problem with the keyboard mappings?

Did you make the 2015 media, from the Universal Boot option or from within TI itself?

I'll have a look later on, the only other option is to see if you can change the English language serial for an Italian one.

Thanks Colin for your quick answer.

I don't know about ATI2014, my previous version was ATI2009.

I tried from with in ATI, where offers the 3 possible choices (Acroinis rescue, WinPE, Universal Boot).

Maybe I'll try with the customer service to change to the Italian version. Still don't know if ATI2014 or ATI 2015.

Thanks again, Lauro

On your start button under Acronis there should also be an entry for Universal Restore Media, try using that one.

Lauro,

Here is how to change the keyboard mappings when booted from the Linux based media Change Keyboard Language

Now for Windows PE, I thought it would take the language settings provided by Microsoft.

On my laptop the drivers required are in the Recovery partition under a folder called drivers. I know Lenovo/IBM use a folder called SWTOOLS. The inf files are here. If they are in MSI files, then they need to be extracted. You could probably also use the drivers in the Windows\system32 folder, the problem here is that all drivers live here, not only the ones needed for your hardware.

You shouldn't need to do anything as far as making a WIM or ISO file is concerned, 2015 should automatically find the ADK/WAIK and perform all the operations for you.

Joey I have the exact same problem with True Image 2015.. My older backups were created by True Image 2010. The program gets stuck on one archive. Same behavior happens on Windows 7 and the new Windows 10 (Technical Preview).
