UNC mapping need instructions for dummies
I've just completed the upgrade to Win8.1 on one of my laptops and now when I run True Image 2014 Build 6673 I get an UNC error (see the image). I've searched the web for UNC mapping and I think I have specified it correctly. In TI I have the following \\S4\S4-Q-Raid5\BU\Acronis\Lenovo-Z580 where
S4 = Desktop system where the RAID 5 array is located.
S4-Q-Raid5 - is the drive I'm connecting to (in explorer I can drill down to this folder)
BU\Acronis\Lenovo-Z580 = this is the actual folder on the drive where I want to store the BU (in explorer I can drill down to this folder)
When I kick off the BU TI will report that it connecting, calculating the space and after several seconds I get the UNC error.
Please give me the instructions for dummies :) and assume that I know nothing (which seems to be the case)

You are probably experiencing a permissions failure. You need to check permission levels on the backup folder. Using Explorer navigate to the backup directory, right click on backup directory, select > properties > tab: sharing tab> advanced tab > permissions > everybody: select full control. Finally press OK several times to confirm.

Still now brass ring but different results. I read through the post and basically the solution was what you have in your signature 2A. Thus I find your instructions MUCH (MUCH) better however I run into an issue. In the Disk Backup window the destination has defaulted to "Z:\My backups" but I want it on my RAID array so I clicked on the Browse button and in the Browse for Destination window I see "Specify credentials for this location" (see the image). I click on this text, a popup request the Username and Password, I supply both click on the Test button, get positive confirmation, the Test button changes to Connect, I click on the Connect button, the window closes but the Browse for Destination window does not change, e.g. it still says "Specify credentials for this location" an din the left nav pane I do NOT see the drives that have been shared on my S4 system.
Thus I have hit a wall.
Why in the heck cannot Acronis make this easy? In the past I have used other software that needs UNC and they make it totally transparent to the user. It would seem that Acronis could make it MUCH easier.
I'm getting very near on giving up on True Image.

Try this and see if it helps to establish the path TrueImage needs to a ReadyShare.
This example is a USB External disk connected via to a usb connection on a Netgear router.

I'm going to reference your figures.
Fig 2 - when I select disk mode of course I see the entire 750GB drive rather than just the partitions I want to back up but I went with it for this test.
Figure 4 - when I click the browse button I end up going down the same path as I previously did. I can see my system (S4 is the name of my system) but I cannot see the drives I've shared out on S4 thus I'm not able to identify where on S4 the TI image file will be stored. The image I attached to my previous post is what I see (except this time I'm in disk mode).
Fig 5 - I supply the username and password, test the connection (it is good) and click the connect button. At this point I expect to see the drives on S4 but I do not see any of the drives (I have four drives that I have shared out). I did the share under windows, is there some other method I should use?
OPS - I just attempted to get to the S4 drives with Windows Explorer and I cannot. I played with the explorer view and now I can access the drives on S4
Back to TI - I switched back to partition mode and now when I browse I see the drives on S4 and I'm able to drill down to the desired folder. I completed the creation of the task and clicked Run. Now the darn thing is running.
I have no idea what I really did different other than using Windows Explorer to see the darn drives on S4 and ensuring I could see them. I'm not sure but I thought I had done this with my first attempts but in my first attempts I did not go the path as you posted above.
From this test it does not seem to make any difference if I select partition mode or disk mode. Of course I prefer partition mode because the resulting image will be MUCH smaller.
I'm going to let TI run and I now have an incremental schedule that should run every night. I'll check in a couple of days and see if it is working. Also I can try and set up my wife's system and my other laptop. I'll post my results. Thanks!
