Unclear and inconsistent error messages and log entries
The file backup with Acronis True Image 2014 Premium drives me into despair. Often, the backup results in a warning "The last backup has failed". But that backup then still exists and seems to offer restoring any files I want.
Today, e.g., I got this message for one backup. It turned out that in a first attempt it failed: "Error occurred while reading the file" - which file, and why? I saw the event details and error code, entered that on the web - nothing found.
Then Acronis did the backup again 10 minutes later - apparently with success. But why is there a third attempt about a minute later, again apparently with success? And why is there only one backup file in the end - with a file stamp fitting to the first attempt only, which was not successful?
I had such problems quite often. Then I recently decided to backup on another partition on the internal harddisk instead of a NAS in order to exclude problems with access to the NAS. That didn't fix it, however.
Another problem is that apart from the e-mail notifications I don't get any warning when a backup fails. If I don't look at that e-mail account, I don't see a problem, and may not get backups for weeks. Why doesn't this stuff give me a proper warning on the screen, I mean without me actively looking for log files and the like?
Further, why do the log entries not have any consistent ordering, e.g. by date? They appear to be listed in random order - very inconvenient.
Although so far I never had a problem restoring something from a backup, I totally lose trust in this software. Exactly for backup purposes, this is obviously a no-go. I am afraid I will have to look for another solution. I am very unhappy indeed. Instead of putting in more and more features, they should work on removing more and more bugs.
By the way, why has my support expired, although I bought this "holiday offer" only in last December, half a year ago? Can that be called premium support?
